Had my ears on alert today when I had a home demo of the 2 lower grades of Ansuz cabling with focus on power cables. However I had a listen to Ansuz Ceramic speaker cable as a final test. Well in the context of a Ansuz cabled system the synergy is really there. The speaker cable was a with a small margin better than my own home cocked cable but not so much I would like to dash out the dough AND definitely not worth the 100 times higher cost compared to my own. But that doesn't matter too much as the power cables from Ansuz brought some interesting gains to my system BUT to be honest much more so with Ansuz filter distributor box, in that combination my JPS Kaptovator (wall to box), and Sablon Audio Petit (2014 version) to the Devialets, Ansuz was so much better. Silent and blacker background, all/most sibilance gone, tighter and deeper bass, better wholeness to the sound, resolution, timbre, well everything. And this was with the lowest priced models, POM and Aluminium. I will test one higher into the filterbox, the Ceramic, and the Ansuz filterbox will be installed.

Gains for me could be valued; very positive, ok to negative so test and mix to find the right combination. In my case 'better' meant not better rather opposite.

I will develop more in a thread in Tweaker's Corner/Mike

Hey Mike,

Thanks for the insights!

Problem with smaller hifi markets like Singapore is that we do not have plenty of cable choices we can take home for trials.

I have used copper cables for the longest time with Classe Audio and now Devialet. I have found that Devialet is extremely fussy with cables.

Would hope for more insights from fellow members!!

Voal, you're welcome!

This comes as a surprise: "Problem with smaller hifi markets like Singapore" ? Is it really smaller as last time I visited I had time over to go to for me the best ever HiFi market, the 7 storages of only HiFi and record shops at Coleman st!.

+ 1

I do not know any other place more convenient than "Adelphi" for hifi shopping. A must place to visit for me when I travel to Singapore. And I will be there again in a months time.

Hey guys,

I guess the grass is always greener over the other side.

For the locals in Singapore, Adelphi can sometimes be daunting due to some shops providing bad service or worse still, fleece with unreasonable mark-ups. Good thing is that there are new hifi shops that are much more reasonable in their pricing.

Hong Kong has a great hifi scene and shopping experience is incredible.

In China, a lot of hifi shops have the proper showrooms for listening to serious gears. Have fun checking out the photos of some hifi showrooms in Beijing - http://www.my-hiend.com/vbb/showthread.p...wave/page3

In China, the markups are very high, too. Worst still, you never know if you are paying for genuine stuff. I'm referring to accessories and interconnects.
Hello,
I am late to this post and to Devialet, but has anyone tried Crystal Cable — e.g., Standard Diamond?

Wish I could disagree with your comments but I have seen the light !!!

I upgraded the stock AC cord to entry level Shunyata HC Venom a few weeks ago and it did wonders for the Devialet. So, yes, I agree that power cables make a big difference.

Not being satisfied with the Linn K20 speaker cables I was using, I reached out to a few Devialet dealers to ask what they recommended. In my price range, it was a toss up between the Nordost Red Dawn and the Siltech Explorer L90 and many of the Devialet dealers seem to sell either or both brands. After some consideration, I went with the entry level Siltech Explorer 90L in 2.5m lengths with banana plugs on each end.

Again, I wish I could disagree with your comments but I've been listening to my favourite/reference tracks and albums for the past 5 hours and it's just getting better and better. A wider soundstage, bass seems more articulate and present, higher end seems to sparkle, insane mids, more focus, separation and more detail across the entire band.

Turns out to be a great match for the Devialet and Kudos speakers.
looking to change up my power cables and speaker cables.

for speaker cable, does anyone have any experience with nordost frey 2 or siltech explorer 90L? I'm just looking at used cables right now and thats all that shows up in Canada...nothing from crystal cable.

I'm connecting my 120 to Focal Micro Utopia Be

I bought a pair of Siltech Explorer 90L cables and I really like the results with the Devialet 120. Some of the more expensive offerings from Crystal and Siltech were a little out of my price range. If you are looking for a used pair of Siltech Explorer 90L, I know someone in Eastern Canada who is selling a set and a dealer who might have Crystal and Siltechs. Send me a private message and I will get you in touch with them

I just changed the speakers for my 120 from the micro utopias to the Atohm GT1. Something you might like to consider.

With SAM, they are much better than the utopias.

I am also in Canada, in Guelph.

For cables I went with QED Signature Revelation.

Very reasonable price from the UK.

They are easily better than the custom made cables I had for the utopias.

Just some thoughts.

Cheers.
D120 and Atohm GT1 is a match made in heaven!
