I would rather ask the Roon guys to be sure

Just had a thought. If Roon works with AIR on the new streamer board that means it's the same old AIR we've been 'accustomed' to for years.

I really hope it is a little better - like the basic quality difference between the old and new board. I'm using the AES/EBU input anyway, hoping for a small increase in SQ there too. What I am really hoping for is Roon/AIR bettering mR/Mutec. This is not very likely unless Devialet has a full reclocker on the board.

Getting this back onto the 'invitation' topic, I am still waiting for the 'announcement' email.  It seams to take Devialet a very long time to get all the emails sent out.  That said, I still have the 'announcement' email from July.  Curiously the July email has more information that the October one I do not have.  The July email is very clear in stating that Tidal, Qobuz, Bluetooth, webradios and the mysterious '...' would be added over the coming months'.  It does seam strange that this very basic information is omitted from the October email.

Regarding AIR, I recall talking to Devialet's Mathieu Pernot about the new OS board.  Mathieu was very clear that Devialet AIR would continue with the new board.  OK, this conversation was a little over a year ago now, things may have changed.  However, it would be utterly unfathomable for Devialet to get Roon integrated AIR working earlier this year if they intended to drop AIR in October.  Not even Devialet would be that crazy.  (Would they??) Huh

I have to say that I love this thread!  11 pages now, not one person has received an actual 'invitation' yet, and I am still waiting for the 'announcement' email that will skilfully inform me of less information than I already know.

Like Confused, I have not yet received an email from Devialet, but from the info given by those that have, I am not particularly bothered. It is when the actual invitations to upgrade come in, that I will pay more attention Smile.

Re Roon and AIR, it is looking increasingly more likely that, at this stage, the Core Infinity board will not make the Expert Pros a Roon end point, ie RAAT enabled, but will still allow the use of the Roon/AIR “work around”. As long as I can still use my NUC, with ROCK, and Roon/AIR, I will be happy, as it is giving me a great sound through my system.

I got the email stating Nov 7...
And some time ago I got a reply from Roon on my qustion whether there would be something to gain with the new board over Roon Air. Roon explained that if the board would be Roon Ready (and I expect it to be as Roon should be working together with Devialet on Roon Air) that could be rally nice. Roon Ready means just a small tool on the client requesting Roon Server to send over the Roon client software on (in this case) the Devialet. That tool would be able to take the full potential of the processing (DSP?) power on this board. That would allow Roon to do ineteresting things..... (no explanation what that could/would be as yet)

I must say it's funny how this is probably the one thing that 99% of folks on here are interested in.

That's the elephant in the room surely.

Let's hope the delay is because they have changed their approach to Roon, as they seem to have earlier in the year, and the extra time is for the proper testing Roon require.

Qobuz/Flac and Tidal/MQA are hi res streaming competitors. The CI board with AirPlay limit 48Khz...something is really missing Dodgy

There have to be more features than what is mentioned. For <$100 I can create a Roon Endpoint using Raspberry Pi the size of a pack of cigareetes that will plug into the Devialet and give Tidal / Roon RAAT support.

I have not (yet) received any email from Devialet, but it certainly sounds like something is going to happen on Nov 7th.

The bigger question, has anyone heard anything about the logistics of the update? The closer it gets to the holidays, the more I'm concerned about it. Have to think that updating everyone's Pro will have to be staged over many months - particularly if all are going back to Paris.
