Qobus Connect does sound impressive that focusses high on clarity with a more immediate and big holographic soundstage. On prolonged listening sessions, I found the transparency vs. musicality lean towards more clarity whereas thru Roon, it was better balanced for my listening preference. Thus, I've reverted back to Roon and preferences may differ as audio is subjective.
This is very system dependent, depending on your Roon setup and whole streamer setup, actually it also depends on the phone that you use for Qobuz Connect.
I haven't tried Qobuz Connect, for Tidal Connect the model of phone you use does have influence on the sound output. Actually, even on my friend's Roon setup, the phone controlling the Roon playback still affects the sound. There will be less of a difference if you use iPhone as all are about the same. Android phones differ a lot more between different models and brands.
I use a dedicated iPad Pro 11-inch running iOS 18.5 with mostly all services disabled except Roon, Devialet Volume monitor, Qobus and Wattson. The internet connection to the iPad is Ethernet wired (not WiFi). I've used both Qobus Connect & Wattson to directly stream but much prefer the Roon. As I said earlier, "Audio is subjective" and each to his own!
