TOSlink (optical) can run over several meters so you should be able to leave your vinyl player where it is. I'd recommend to have the TOSlink cable made by BlueJeans cable https://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/dig.../index.htm Make sure you mention that the cable will be used with a Phantom. The space around the input on the Phantom is tight. Re.: WIFI, I think you are right, there doesn't seem to be devices like that.
