ROON
IMPORTANT!
What has happened is not good!. (regarding loosing meta data, playlist etc). for rest of us who might be upgrading please read below ... "Back Up" of "Roon" Folder is important

Copied From 147 build release.
Once you’re running Build 147, your database will be upgraded to the new format. While we’ve done extensive testing on this process, we strongly recommend that everyone make a backup63 (https://kb.roonlabs.com/FAQ:_How_do_I_ba...atabase%3F) before installing this release, especially if you’ve changed operating systems in the past.

VERY VERY good point.

I have worked out what the problem was.

For some very odd reason my sT thought that it had mounted an SMB network share, in other words it was pointing to my NAS, and Roon was scanning this folder. So it started importing lots of albums I already had and this was creating havoc with my metadata. That's why I had duplicates of everything.

Oddly I had been running Roon successfully for a few weeks without this problem.

When I first got my sT I set it up with a mount without thinking it through properly (I am generally pretty computer illiterate) but I did delete this soon after. For some reason it evidently wasn't properly deleted. See below:

The clues came when (on Mike's request) I checked the pathways of my albums and they all seemed to contain "nas".

Anyway I removed the SMB share name, saved it, and restarted Roon Server and then rebooted the sT. Then I went back into Roon on my Mac and watched the album numbers go down.

Everything is now back to normal, what a relief!!!  Smile

Just today tried the Synology package of Roon. Worked like charm but I didn't realize up front that there is no AIR driver for Synology so reverted back to my Windows laptop. Sad though

Just use your original database from the machine you had Roon installed on before.  There are instructions for moving machines, it will work to get things back in order again.

Just be sure to use a watched folder with Roon and not an organized folder.   Watched folders are not modified by Roon.

Good that it worked out Guillaume!.

Just to confirm, your entire library is on your sT correct?. NAS is not in play at all. In other words, Roon does not fetch tracks from NAS and streams to Dev. Instead its entirely from sT - CORRECT?.

Because thats exactly what I m intending to do once AIR3 for windows works. Then, entire music albums can be on Intel NUC with good SSD. NAS will be for back up only and not for active streaming. I want to avoid spinning, slow fetching and other potential benefits.
