I am using a headless Mac Mini as a music server, so for me it was just more convenient to do it with 2 computers. Thinking about it, I see no reason why you wouldn‘t be able to perform the same with one PC. It would be very interesting to hear any results, if you give it a try.
I am myself considering doing a similar measurement, but to see if it‘s possible to quantify the differences I hear between a Habst BNC and a Canare 12G-SDI 4K UHD Single-Channel BNC Cable between my Mutec Ref-10 and Mutec MC-3+.
