Seriously though Allen i would be interested in your view of the Aurender. My NDX has now been updated to play DSD so it will be interesting to see which wins.
I already know the answer to be honest, even with the cons Phil mentions in his post, the SQ is just too good.

Paul said the unit was going back to have HDDs added i.e. to make it a N100H which is probably a better solution assuming the gaps in playback go away.
I agree - excellent SQ but I would have to run a Mac as well to get all the functions I really like so it's not a complete solution on its own.

He didn't mention it but maybe it has been fitted. I agree it does have its short comings, and i will probably get a sonos or maybe keep my Mac.
Firstly though i need to confirm i can get it to play DSD ans 24/192 flawlessly before i decide to buy. Paul is lending me some switches also to try, as it maybe mine that are causing the issue.
Anyway this will be my final test and will decide then.

That would be great, and quite possibly a tipping point for me as far as buying an Aurender. Looking for that 'endpoint' as Roon call it.
Have you tried an Aurender at home yet Allen? Foxman and I both think they are way ahead of the Naim NDX (digital out) in terms of SQ. I listed the Pros and Cons from my perspective - top of my cons list is that I don't want to switch from Qobuz to Tidal - but I would be very interested to know what you think about the SQ. Thanks, Philip
Phil, unfortunately not yet. As one of Paul's customers I am sure it would not be an issue to loan one, but living in Jersey makes this very difficult with the odd customs & excise situation. One of my next trips to England and I may well try and schedule a listen. I am in no hurry, as for me now, as good as the Conductor app seems to be, I would want Roon. That has become pretty much conditional on the endpoint, as they call it, that I want sitting in my system. But I keep my eyes peeled for user experiences with Aurender and it's right up there in my possible wish list.
Cheers
Allen

No worries just yet Graeme keep it as long as you like. But I do watch out for yours and Phils posts on this too, being ex-Naimees, it's interesting to find a new world out there!

There are updates for the iOS app and Aurender hardware ready. I don't have the list handy but there are a good number of improvements. Tidal and NAS access are two.

Well, the AMM application wasn't updated and the old version doesn't work with this new firmware. The new firmware erased the meta-data information on the SSD. If you have a N100 (without H), hold off on updating for a while.
/rant/
I really can't believe these kind of problems. It really makes me sad. Over 10K of Hifi stuff and with every update on any device there seems to be some kind of F-up. Don't these companies test their new software before rolling it out anymore.
Sorry people, had a rough couple of weeks and there a still a couple of weeks to come. Patience is a bit low now at the moment.
