-=Aurender=-
I think so. As far as I've read, the Aurender will become an endpoint, just handling the music side of things, you'll have to install the Roon software on your computer for controlling and UI. You can also connect a tablet with a Roon app to the computer to control the endpoint. I don't think the Aurender has the processing power to do what the control software does. I could find a clear answer, so I could be wrong..

If I need to network an Aurender with a computer (+ an iPad or or other tablet for user interface) to use Roon that will generate too much complexity for me. I would like to completely eliminate my computer from my music system. I have already a problem with the notion of using a WiFI router connected to an Aurender via ethernet. Does anyone know wether an USB WiFi dongle would work with Aurender to connect to a iPad etc. and to the internet via WLAN?

If they do make it RoonReady—does it mean that you need a computer running on the same network?

Kind regards Morten

Yes. The computer will 'serve' the Aurender its data over Ethernet using their RAAT protocol.

In essence, it also means the music stored on your Aurender will be pulled to the RoonCore, processed, and then returned via RAAT. In theory SQ will be at least as good, since the Aurender engineers are responsible for implementing RAAT on their hardware, so I assume it will all go into the same buffers etc, but it will probably be an extra slight delay.

I asked a lot about this as I planned to buy an Aurender and wanted to use Roon. The Roon guys logic was pretty sound - they didn't want their setup to become obsolete or break due to unsupported file types etc - and since they deal with all that their end and always send back Data in their format, everyone gets the same experience across all hardware (in as far as possible). Perhaps ultimately they will add the ability to control the device directly - more like a remote - but that would be further down the line.

I ended up changing my mind for other reasons - not least the cost of the Aurenders in the UK - but I'll definitely reconsider once Roon is confirmed as working. The Aurender ap didn't do it for me at all. It was like a step back in time after Roon IMO, but would make a simpler setup.

Thanks for confirming...

I think I will pass—one of the reasons why I went with the Aurender was the rock sold interface and no need to restart and windows tweaking/updating...

I more or less only use Tidal, I like it on the Aurender APP, and when I find an artist I like while at work using Tidal on my Laptop or iPhone and make it a favorite it also appears on the Aurender APP.

I really hope that the Roon integration do not do anything to hamper the sound and the user-friendliness of the Aurender…

Kind regards

Morten

I'd be very surprised if that were the case - there will just be more choice, the Aurender App or Roon.

I guess I'll pass as well. The Roon interface is well ahead of anything else I have seen but my PC is off when I am doing serious listening. I do have a NAS but Roon doesn't run on that. Bummer...

It seems that Qobuz are working on integration with Aurender and this will include hi-res streaming for Sublime subscribers. Fantastic!

Firmware update. Qobuz is now supported. Think I'll switch back to Qobuz now.

Finally, this is so cool! I will most probably switch back to Qobuz especially for classic and Hi Res streaming the catalog is so much more interesting.

Great news for all concerned…. I hope this means Qobuz are being more open for integration with vendors. (dreaming Roon will follow suit)
