Major Roon Changes - Devialet Impact?
#1
Just announced by Roon:

https://community.roonlabs.com/t/importa...ers/120204

Anyone know if this impacts "non-expert pro" devices?

Thanks.

I'd guess not, because non-CI Expert devices don't support RAAT which as I understand it is a pre-requisite for Roon Ready certification.  Put another way, non-CI devices won't show up as Uncertified because they are not even eligible for certification.  I'd expect Roon will still talk to non-CI Experts using either Roon's own driver or Devialet's driver for AIR -- that's to say, business as usual.

Disclaimer: this is just a guess based on my understanding, I haven't done any tests to confirm or invalidate it.

Thanks - I have a note into Roon support. Expert owners - please reach out as well. This could be a major issue for us.

I read it and understood it the same way as @thumb5  says. No issues for Devialet owners. Proceed as normal. (e.g. 'an audio file is....'  Tongue )

Thanks PIM - can you point to a post number that gives to that impression for non Expert-Pro users?

The Roon article says that it will only cause a problem if your audio device is currently labelled as Uncertified in Roon.  So there's an easy way to check for yourself.

Thanks - plan do do that.  My 120 is not hooked up right now b/c I'm auditioning a 220.

I'm concerned primarily because the Roon/Devialet Air implemention is quite bespoke, and my guess is easy to break.  I wonder if the simple "does it have a banner" test will tell the whole story for those not running Expert Pro gear?

I'll hook the 120 back up this weekend and report what I see.  I'd appreciate hearing from other non Expert Pro Roon users too.

Thanks - a good sign. I hooked by 120 back up and did not see a pink banner. Encouraging, but waiting for confirmation from Devialet.

The Devialet product line is unaffected. They are certified Roon Ready and listed on Roon's website as such. Likewise you do not see the pink label in the Roon configuration UI.
