Has anyone tried the Nordost Valhalla digital cable as the master/slave link? They are on steep discount now that the Valhalla 2 is coming in...
I haven't tried it but I just got in a DH Labs D-110 interconnect modified with an RCA connector on one side. Will put into system tonight as the master/slave link.
Has anyone already tried the new pure silver Audioprana cable from Joel? Any improvements over the NEUTRIK HE cable?
Cable 0.70 Ag occ cryo RCA Ag(*) cryo/XLR pure Ag (*) cryo 75->110 Ohms........320 €
(*) with body in precious wood
According to Joel it should have a better resolution compared to the Neutrik.

Any news on how the modified cable sounds?

David
@brit - The system sounds wonderful with the DH Labs cable which cost ~ $90US. 100Ohm cable with RCA connector on one side and XLR on the other. Very well made. My Devialet 400 sounds wonderful.

What I cannot provide you with is a definitive comparison between it and the stock RCA/RCA digital cable provided with the Devialet 400. Or rather I am too lazy to do that. But I can tell you that if in fact an RCA to XLR connection is recommended by Devialet, then the DH Labs offers you a reasonable cost to entry, with the other option being to just an a RCA female to XLR male adapter to the existing cable supplied by DH Labs. I preferred to use one that was built without the need for an adapter and built by a company who I believe makes a quality product. Full disclosure I also purchased my speaker cables from them, external bi wired Q-10 speaker cable.

I know cables can cause a lot of debate, angst, et al, so to each their own, but I love the sound of my system with this cable. I did consider the one from Cabledyne as well which gets wonderful reviews but is about $170 more if you go with their Silver cable.

I do know that the Cabledyne comes highly recommended from members here, originally I was going to purchase that model, but after much thought and consideration I went the DH Labs direction with no regrets.

Hi Barr

Many thanks for this feedback. I must investigate the use of the rca/aes interconnect option with my D400. Not too sure if we have DH Labs stockist in the UK but will have search of the web.

David
I don't see a distributer in the UK, so may wish to contact them. You can tell them that you are looking for a cable made as follows :

Silversonic D-100 at 100Ohms in a length of .7 meters. XLR Male to RCA Male.

Obviously you can have it made in a different length as you see fit.

With wiring as follows ( this is link to Devialet site )

Many thanks. I will drop them an e-mail and see what response I get.
Is there anyone who makes (or distributes) a decent XLR to RCA cable in the UK?
@brit - I believe they will be able to take good care of you.
