Maybe another round of writing to support will reveal some more info?

At most what it would give us is another post from someone reporting what someone in Devialet told them. Go back through this post and you will find several reports from people who heard from someone in Devialet that an update for the Expert Pro range was in progress/on the way, and probably just as many reports from other people who heard from someone in Devialet that there was no update being worked on for the Expert Pro range. What good are more reports from people telling us that Devialet told them that an update is coming or an update is not coming?

I'm sorry but such reports are of no value to us. Obviously some of them have to be correct and some of them have to be wrong but how do we tell which ones are correct and which ones are wrong? None of us here have any way of telling.

What do we need if we are to place any faith in a statement coming from someone in Devialet about whether or not we can expect to see a firmware update? In my view, what we would need to see, ranked in order from most convincing to mildly convincing, is one of the following sorts of announcement:

- most convincing: an actual update available for download appearing on the Devialet website;

- reasonably convincing: an official statement from Devialet, sent in an email to owners or placed on their website and Facebook page, clearly stating that there will or will not be an update and, if it says there will be one, giving a reasonably precise statement about when it can be expected;

- mildly convincing: a report from someone stating that someone in the Expert Pro development team stated that there would or would not be an update, with some kind of indication when it could be expected if the statement says we can expect one, and identifying the person in Devialet and what their position within the organisation is.

Anything else is worthless in my view, especially any statement which is attributed to an unnamed person in Devialet. Statements from Devialet store staff should receive low credibility because they would not be expected to have much contact with development staff, statements from support staff should receive low credibility because we seem to have had several such reports  and since some have said we can expect an update and others have said we can't expect one, there's no reason to place faith in reports from someone in support unless they're prepared to be named and to name the source of their information. I might start to put some credence in that kind of report if they were all telling us the same thing but they aren't, and if they aren't all saying the same thing then a lot of those statments not only have to be wrong, they also have to be coming from people who have no idea what they're talking about. Simply gathering more statements from unnamed people with no way of being able to tell whether or not they know what they're talking about is useless.

What we need is something official from Devialet but that's not the way they want to communicate with their customers.

Hello David A, I am fully with you! What we need is a clear statement from Devialet, and no glass ball reading or any other oracles! All speculations only bring restlessness and dissatisfaction and nothing else! Wink
For what it’s worth I don’t remember reading a comment from someone having been told by Devialet that nothing is coming.

Cheers,
Bernard
At this point, I can't resist quoting Douglas Adams:

I don't mind fuzzily defined areas of doubt and uncertainty but I do like my areas of certainty being extremely well defined. I can't stand poorly defined certainty   Smile
I got an update directly from Devialet. Trying to make it public - with an official statement from them.

Just another rabbit hole is opened in the topic? Smile
Well my track record is known over the many years. But trying again to get Devialet to do some communication to avoid further uncertainty among customers.
@markush - if you have that level of connection, please advocate for the Newsletter they promised a long time ago as a means to communicate such updates. I often wondered why they never followed up on that since it would be relatively low overhead. Yes, it would take someone with influence to accept that they will share what they're up to, and that may well be the reason it hasn't happened. But still, ongoing communication, even if just quarterly, would be far better than a single point-in-time statement (unless, of course, that statement was that the Expert Pro line is being retired).

P.S... thanks for following up. Even if you can't get them to formally communicate, if you can share what you know while citing your source, that is far better than unsubstantiated rumors. Your effors are appreciated.
