I could have a go that way too, just haven’t seen it. Do I need a hybrid cable for it?

You can buy ready built cables from DH Labs or Cabledyne: http://www.cabledyne.com/devialet.htm
I use this one: https://silversonic.com/products/digital-cables/d-110/

You can get it with RCA to AES/EBU and they are available worldwide, including Amazon

Just as a point of clarification, the inputs on the companion are only available if you use the RCA to RCA link. The original D-Premier only had the RCA to XLR link method, and inputs from the companion were not available. From the introduction of the Expert range the RCA to RCA link method was added as an option and this allowed use of the companion inputs, but if you use the RCA to XLR link, then companion inputs are disabled by design. Whilst on the topic, it is perhaps worth mentioning that with the Expert there was a very slight performance advantage to using the RCA to XLR link. Last time I spoke to Mathieu Pernot he mentioned that the RCA to RCA link for the Pro range is now optimised and so the SQ performance of RCA to RCA method has zero performance deficit to the traditional RCA to XLR link. I recall @GuillaumeB tried a comparison of various link cables a while back, taking the results overall, whilst differences between cables were observed, no real advantage for the RCA to XLR link method was found.
