Finally after 3 years I appear to have a stable set up that consistently delivers superb sound quality that Devialet always promised - so there is much less need for me to consult Devialet Chat to find the way out of the latest glitch.

The move to Roon was a huge breakthrough as well as the latest core infinity upgrade with the latest software upgrade sealing the deal by eleminating the Roon Transport Device error as well the Wifi/Ethernet conflict which affected some users, that has allowed me to revert to using Ethernet.

However, the one factor, outside of Devialet control, that I think may have been underplayed, is the home network environment.  I was forced to get a new modem (inc router) earlier this year.  I thought the one I had was of reasonable quality - but obviously not.  I was having occasional drop out problems etc with my Bluesound setup as well as my Devialet.  Since the new modem, these problems have disappeared (well perhaps not entirely - but it is now several months that I have experienced these dropouts).

Hi Will, on the HighEnd, I had a very interesting conversation with a network specialist on the subject of IP allocation, throughput etc. After some time, he gave me the advice, they switched to their router a decent Lan switch (the built-switch in the routers are not the best). So only a Lan cable from the router to the switch. All other LAN cables now on the new switch. A friend of mine, has implemented the tip, he had me aborts and dropouts in TIDAL. So far no problems with TIDAL. But it can also be a coincidence !!

So what replaces it?

Having seen a few posts saying the latest proper release seems to work fairly well, I’m tempted to try the CI update now, but I’d struggle to live with a flaky iOS remote.

The app works fine apart from not showing the correct volume setting on first connection, change the volume and it then reads correctly. It errs on the low side not the high side in case you are worried about ear assault.

@Hifi_swlon I'd wait a bit longer if I where you. Until RAAT is in the CI firmware. If you do it now you'd be safe anyway as you use the DigiOne. I've been using the AES input through all the betas with no problems, but I feel I could have waited too. The CI does have a little bit better sound - though the Pro alone is very good too.

Is this the first proper release?
Are there any known bugs in it?

I'm wondering if it's time I sent mine in, before the French holidays.

You need to be more precise.  The French are perpetually on some type of holiday!  This comes from someone who lived in France for five years and enjoyed the almost monthly "faire le pont." Tongue

There are still a few known bugs according to the release notes:  Software Manual
However there are plenty of bug fixes including the display information menu no longer has blank pages 8 & 9 for Wi-Fi and Ethernet parameters. Also fixed Wi-Fi IP address is now working.
I have not had any problems and have finally got Wi-Fi working (although I use ethernet, I wanted to make sure Wi-Fi worked). Roon now lists Devialet-Eth and Airplay as available devices.

Config, now possible via browser!

Are you saying that I can now change configuration remotely via ethernet without pulling out that SD card?

That is what I have been wishing for.

I cannot seem to find it via the online configurator, could you tell us where you found that option?

Yes, there is a "Devialet Configurator" accessible by entering the IP address of your Devialet via your browser.   BUT... there is very limited in scope and is not (currently) a replacement for the online "Expert Configurator".   For example, there is no ability to define or configure the I/O ports of your Expert.   So unless I'm missing something well hidden, you still need to configure and use the SD card.     I've yet to hear anything from Devialet about his new configurator so I'm hoping it is a work in progress.  If anyone has more info, I'd love to hear about it.

The IOS app has worked fine for me throughout the CI update and the numerous firmware & DOS updates.   Now that we've finally got a production DOS and firmware, I'd say you're good to go with the CI update.  The only minor annoyance I'm currently seeing is that the remote (and IOS app) now lists all possible options whether you're using them or not (e.g. Spotify, UPnP, etc...).   Not really a big deal.   Everything else seems to be working well (and I can't remember when the last time I could say that ;-).

So, bottom line, I'd say Devialet has finally fixed all the things they broke with the CI update.   SQ is perhaps slightly better, but to these ears, not nearly to the extent brought by the Pro update.   My hope is that the real benefits to the CI update are yet to come (i.e. RAAT).
