Finally after 3 years I appear to have a stable set up that consistently delivers superb sound quality that Devialet always promised - so there is much less need for me to consult Devialet Chat to find the way out of the latest glitch.

The move to Roon was a huge breakthrough as well as the latest core infinity upgrade with the latest software upgrade sealing the deal by eleminating the Roon Transport Device error as well the Wifi/Ethernet conflict which affected some users, that has allowed me to revert to using Ethernet.

However, the one factor, outside of Devialet control, that I think may have been underplayed, is the home network environment.  I was forced to get a new modem (inc router) earlier this year.  I thought the one I had was of reasonable quality - but obviously not.  I was having occasional drop out problems etc with my Bluesound setup as well as my Devialet.  Since the new modem, these problems have disappeared (well perhaps not entirely - but it is now several months that I have experienced these dropouts).

Hi Will, on the HighEnd, I had a very interesting conversation with a network specialist on the subject of IP allocation, throughput etc. After some time, he gave me the advice, they switched to their router a decent Lan switch (the built-switch in the routers are not the best). So only a Lan cable from the router to the switch. All other LAN cables now on the new switch. A friend of mine, has implemented the tip, he had me aborts and dropouts in TIDAL. So far no problems with TIDAL. But it can also be a coincidence !!
I am no technician - so cannot explain how the new router differs from the old one - except being a bit more expensive!  I expect that the newer routers are designed for multiple media streaming, which was not a major issue a few years ago.  However, up until I replaced the router, I had assumed that the occasional dropouts etc were largely due to the Bluesound or Devialet systems rather than my own network setup.  Of course, in that time, both Bluesound and Devialet have also upgraded, which complicates the matter in trying to work out where the problem might have been.  However, hopefully, all this is in the past - the net effect is that I will be spending time listening to the music rather than consulting Devialet Chat!

I had Asus AC-88 and run a 23m cat 6 straight to a switch in my music room. Only the Od’A and Nucleus+ connected to this switch. I don’t remember having any dropout.

Installed the new version without issues. All seems to work fine.
I tried to use AirPlay and the Devialet automatically switched from the usb input that was not playing to the AirPlay one. When I stopped to play and I started Roon it switched to Air.
Now I am playing DSD64 upsample through ethernet without a glitch.
Just a curiosity, does anyone know what is the new icon over the dB letters on the screen? Looks like a barred square.

All working well for me, however just noticed that the dB symbol is flashing red now and again, what’s that all about? Listening via Roon/AIR, level -29.0dB

That might be an indication of digital 'overs' i.e. clipping on the input to your amplifier.  For checking, enable Headroom Management  for the Roon/AIR zone. Set Headroom Adjustment (dB) to 0 (zero) and enable Show Clipping Indicator. If Roon now indicates clipping simultaneous with the dB symbol in the amp you are seeing digital clipping.
Are you using any other DSP functions in Roon? EQ or Convolution? Upsampling maybe?

Is there any info / release notes about the latest? I didn’t see anything in the Core Infinity Log, perhaps that’s been abandoned.

I actually ordered the CI upgrade tonight, but then started getting cold feet and wondered whether I’ll actually ship it. I’d be really upset if I got stuck with something not working properly- seems unlikely if all I’m using is aes (and testing airplay/Spotify), but...

I think you should go for it. The AES/EBU input is working as it should. In fact, I think just about everything is working properly!

I know what you mean Hifi_swlon, I too have been waiting for quite a while, patiently, for the first post „Official Release“....... normally I’m not afraid of Beta software, in fact it’s almost a standard now that the next update is already being prepared, it’s just mega complicated, too many preambles to get right for everyone. I ordered, finally, my upgrade midday on Thursday, Friday UPS picked up my Devialet and expected delivery time in France, (from Germany) is Monday!
A big thank you too all you beta testers on DC, as always you were a great source of input for doubters like me!

The release notes are included in the download. I posted a link in #48.

The number of people reporting problems with streaming now seems to have reduced to a small number which makes it most likely local network issues. They seem to happen to any platform, even with Roon RAAT and various end points there are issues raised on the Roon forum so I think it’s close to impossible to guarantee 100% trouble free consumer network streaming due to all the variables.

My CI has been rock solid for the last 2 betas and now the official release, the closest I can find to an annoyance are the Roon volume not working until the song actually starts and not being able to disable the unused WiFi input.

If you have a working solution today there is of course little pressure to update so waiting longer doesn’t harm but I don’t think there is much risk doing it now.

My one recommendation would be to check the condition of your amp and photograph it before shipping it as mine returned with a very small mark that I can’t see how it was there before. Devialet rang me to say it was there whilst they had it but I am pretty sure it wasn’t when it left me.

Cheers

Chris
