1. Clicking on the recording tab in sound devices results in hiss.
2. For some reason Devialet Air is getting set as the default audio device, despite me setting it back to my Realtek Audio device.

Apart from that, I can potter around the house with cofidence that a horrendous hiss is going to cause me to choke on my tea!

Good weekend all Smile

Problem one should be solved when doing this: disable the Devialet Air Microphone device in the recording devices tab.
You might wanna report problem 2 in the Love is in the AIR page on the Devialet site.
It has been reported but it might be useful for them to see that more people are affected by this bug. Here's the link::::

Love Is In The AIR

Thanks for the info. I'll report my findings.

Another strange issue is despite the default audio device getting set to the devialet. When i adjust the volume using the physical devialet remote, It increases and decreases the volume on the audio device. Strange is that when it reaches 100% in software the volume still increases as expected on the devialet's LCD. Probably not the best explanation but just another observation.

Still, chuffed with this version.
Well, after 5 days of AIR 3 beta for Windows working perfectly and sounding very good indeed, I ran into white noise this evening.   It occurred after maybe 30 minutes of playing 192/24 music.  Now, yesterday, I played several hi-res albums in a row with no problem, but this evening, AIR raised it's ugly, noisy head.   It sounds the same as the white noise of v2.13 -- abrupt and definitely louder than the volume of the music that was playing.  I could not stop it via the Roon control so I went to the Roonserver and disabled the AIR application.

note: my computer and Devialet 200 are both using ethernet on my gigabit LAN.

I will say that for me, AIR 3 beta has been far more stable than AIR 2.13 ever was.  But still... abrupt, loud white noise will never be acceptable.   So at this point, I'll switch back to my uRendu and wait for a production release.

Well that's just a kick in the nards!  I wonder if it will ever be able to be fully trusted.  Sad
It is a kick in the nards, whatever that might be. I guess I have been fortunate, no white noise, no hiccups, no drop outs at all with AIR3 Beta for Windows. It has been flawless. I wonder why the difference in results?

Windows 10 on a Dell laptop with 8 GB memory. Used CCleaner to get rid of crap. Latest version of Windows 10. ( forced upon me ).

RoonServer running. Wired via ethernet ( CAT6 ) to a cheap $25 switch.

Devialet 400 running latest firmware, also connected via ethernet ( Cat 6 ) to the cheap switch.

Synology NAS, connected via ethernet ( CAT 5e ) to the same cheap switch.

Also connected via a ASUS 1900P router. This replaced my Apple Extreme router.

I am running DSD64 as well as high resolution 24/96 and 24/192 to it.

I will say that the switch to the Asus router for whatever reason resolved the occasional millisecond drop outs I got when running RoonServer on my Mac Mini. But too many variables at play.

Nothing with your setup should result in noise.

Hope Devialet can figure it out.
Not sure where the saying came from but think of the one place you don't want to be kicked.
Ah yes, I have been a victim of that in Paintball!

Gonads.

Not a chant from footie fans etc. but as mentioned before a very sensitive area of a mans body.

Wow, never expected to be discussing such things on an audio forum.

I have been using AIR3 for Windows since it came out now an yes I have been struck by the lightning of white noise twice but it only happened when I was fiddeling around with the computer (once when starting Fidelizer and once when I change settings in AIR3) so in my system it workes ok as long as I dont do anyting with the settings on the computer. Normall surfing and use of the computer has not caused any problem. I have used AIR for around 12h every day and any kind of resolution from FLAC 16/44.1 to 24/192 and DSD 64 over DoP via Roon. Everything is connected with ethernet.

I know some will think this is not ok that you still get withe noise but as I only encontered it when doing settings in the computer I will proceed and use AIR3 as my main way to get music to my Devialet.

So I have decided to build a NUC 6i5SYH with 8GB RAM and M.2 SSD for Windows 10, Fidelizer, Roon server and AIR3. Perhaps a second 2.5" disk for the music and just run the NAS as a backup.
Building a dedicated server may be just the ticket to keep AIR 3 working without white noise.   I was checking email on the computer running AIR when it happened to me. Now, this computer is a robust i7 desktop with 16g of RAM and an SSD so I have a hard time imagining how checking email could have triggered the white noise, but who knows.   Windows by definition is a multitasking operating system.    I wonder if a well configured install of Fidelizer Pro might make it more stable?
