Well, if the 200 isn't enough.. I just picked up a used 250 few days ago, i am just feeling the guy, it used to be a d-premier, then upgraded to 240, then to 250.. then now the 250 pro came out and he was hysterical.. no ending.. lol

So there, must pass the burden...

this is how devialet marketing does their business. in our hobby, most of us tends to sell our stuff in the future to try another one.. the moment you bought a devialet, you just got yourself into a money pit. after 2 years, that is if you are lucky to use your amp for 2 years because some didn't, devialet will introduce an "upgrade program" and asks existing devialet owners whether they want to upgrade which costs 50% of what they initially paid for. funny right? would you pay for another 50% of your initial costs to get your old devialet refreshed to be on par with the current ones. well, why 50%? does the actual upgrade cost, material and labor-wise really cost that much? more on that later...

devialet wants to control the pre-owned market. so you bought a devialet and decided not to upgrade? you will be left in the dark, new firmwares may not support your obsolete set, no support, not cool, you are alone and devialet will not love you. this is when things are no longer into the audiophile's point of view. this will now be a capitalist's selfish interests.

now, why upgrade cost's 50%? why not 30%? or maybe 20% as a means of reward for a loyal customer? because the moment the upgrade program is launched, your devialet immediately lost it's value by more than 50% if you want to sell it.. no matter how old it is. that is the devaluation rate set by devialet. why? because the new current product will be priced close to how much you bought your obsolete set when it was still the current. so they want to make money on new sets sold, and the obsolete sets upgraded.. otherwise, do you want to sell your set at a giveaway price?

simply outrageous.

NOBLEWOLF -

I have to tell you, I totally disagree with your logic here.

Last year I bought brand new 2016 Porsche. I stopped by the dealer a few weeks ago and low and behold they had the 2017 model with tons of upgrades that mine doesn't have. They have more HP, Better Touch screen and audio system, Better exhaust system, Nicer wheels and lots more.. Sure I was like hmm this sucks but I didn't expect them to say oh Craig sorry we upgraded all this stuff so here take the 2017 for no charge and enjoy.

Why is this any different? Does it change my loyalty or make me say oh Porsche you such because you came up with all this new tech and I deserve it for free ? So I drove the new GTS version for 2017 they came up with and it handled better and was faster and the audio was better and I said hey guys how much to trade up and Voila they came up with a number and BTW it was a lot but I felt okay with that because I wanted the new stuff. This didn't make the 2016 a POS or anything, just the 2017 was better. So I plunked down 18K and drove home my 2017 GTS.

Years after Devi released the 200 they came up with some incredible upgrades and all the way down to the chassis being completely updated and made of all copper. This is a totally new machine with changes to many things and allows for better sound and more things in the future like new streaming cards etc. Your 200 was 9500 and the new machine lists for 11000. About a 16 percent price increase. My Porsche list price hardly changed and it still cost me 25% of the retail to get the new model.

The 220 doesn't diminish or make the 200 less valuable in any way. Actually we have seen a very nice bump in resale value of the 200's since the 220's launched.

Just my 2 cents

Besides all the, to me and I guess many, distorted reality on the non-technical front now the D's even suddenly have an all copper chassis...Really, if this type of dealer represents the Devialet brand nowadays it's doomed or at the least it's no longer my brand.

Keep the filthy language and insults to yourself. Maybe in your country it's okay to tell people to GFY but here in the USA we dont openly talk like this on forums. Because your pissed that Devialet isn't giving you a free upgrade doesn't diminish the brand or take away the great work they are doing.

Probably best to keep this thread on track without the Vulgar responses.

An absolutely disgraceful post.
Where did I say I expect a free upgrade? It's you who should keep in mind there's customers from different cultures visiting this forum and the USA culture is not the world culture. edit: because, trust me, there's many cultures who dislike someone bragging about buying Porsches or "plunking down 18k" for whatever (especially in discussions like these) even if they themselves own or could buy one. You're disservicing the Devialet brand here with your factually incorrect information, your snobistic Porsche stories and by ignoring/dismissing the sentiment which currently lives among many current Devialet owners.

It's time this forum institutes some rules to block dealers outside the area where they can announce their own events or news.

Sue and/or ban me.
And in what culture is it acceptable to use the profanity GFY (go f@*k yourself), that you're using here!

Are you joking? The upgrade program allowing 120's to be upgraded to a 220 pro for the same price as a 200 has killed the 200 value dead. They're mostly being sold for practically the same as a 120.

I'd probably word my comments differently, but I agree with Antoine's sentiment - it's a bit odd when dealers cut in with their love of Devialet, probably more so after only a handful of posts here. It's pretty hard not to see through it, and I also think it totally misses the emotional state of a lot of Devialet owners right now.  They didn't all wake up having decided Devialet had upset them overnight in their sleep - it's Devialets attitude and actions over the last year or more that caused it.

BTW, would you have felt the same about your expensive 2016 Porsche if it cutout every couple of miles at random throughout your ownership, while Porsche dodged any questions about it and told you you weren't driving it properly? Or if they sold you a model telling you it was the flagship - the limited edition pinnacle of their R&D efforts - and then shortly after you paid for it announced a better model? Just sayin'.

Congrats on your NEW Porsche for 25% cost.
I would love to get a new or upgraded D400 for 25% of the list when I purchased it last September.
For me to upgrade based on the 5995.00 euro, $7200.00 us, that equals 40% of the list price at the time of purchase
to have your own unit rebuilt, not exchanged for a new one.
Unless you know something that I do not, my year old D400 is worth around 10K usd on the used market, base on the current value of my D400
today the upgrade is 70% of the value, I do not think that is good value, so i'm going to have to think about it.
