MacMini –> Audirvana 3.5 –> Sonarworks –> UpnP –> Golds (DOS2) = BLISS!

Goed om te lezen dat een andere persoon UPnP & kamercorrectie gebruikt met zijn Golds. Ik heb mijn kamercorrectie op de handmatige manier uitgevoerd met REW & rePhase om convolutiebestanden voor MinimServer te genereren. De resultaten waren de moeite waard.

Benieuwd wat was je opstelling eerder? Gebruikt u UPnP?

Ik gebruikte dialoog, ethernet verbonden fantomen en SPARK, ik haatte echt SPARK .... Toen ik geen gerichte luistersessies deed, gebruikte ik gewoon ROON voor praktische en gemak. Ik geef nog steeds de voorkeur aan ROON's interface boven Audirvana, maar totdat de fantomen RAAT ondersteunen, ben ik er meer dan blij mee.

Audirvana gebruikt UpnP en ziet de Phantoms zonder problemen (ik moest ze eerst opnieuw opstarten), het herkent ze als 24/192 apparaten.

Ziet Audirvana elke afzonderlijke Phantom of de 'kamer' groepering zoals gedefinieerd in de Devialet-app?

Ervan uitgaande dat het de eerste is, wijst u dan elke Phantom toe aan een audiokanaal, dwz links, rechts, enz.?
Als zo, zal het zich tot multikanaal uitbreiden?

Uitgaande van dit laatste, kun je 'kamers' samen groeperen om een multi-kanaalconfiguratie te vormen, in tegenstelling tot een multi-roomconfiguratie?

Normaal zou ik dit zelf proberen, maar ik ben gebonden aan de directe optische modus om een gesynchroniseerde multi-kanaalconfiguratie te garanderen. Deze modus is wederzijds exclusief voor UPNP.

I was a bit frustrated with DOS2 incapacity to stream 24/192 and I have been wanting to integrate Room Correction software, this migration seemed like the perfect call to explore possibilities. After some research and tests, I can happily say that my Golds play 24/192, use Room Correction and are now sounding unbelievably good, it seems like I upgraded the whole setup, even my kids asked if I had changed something. Everything now is hyper-balanced, spatially correct, with incredible depth, accurate imaging, clarity and resolution. I am blown away by the dramatic improvement in sound.

Here is a bit more detail on my system:

MacMini 2018 running Audirvana 3.5 as the main media player, Audirvana syncs perfectly with my iTunes Lossless Music Library which is in an external SSD raid configuration, I have always used iTunes (now Apple Music) to organize and manage my library's metadata, plus, since I pay for an Apple Music subscription, I can access all my personal library (3TB) on the move. For those not using iTunes, Audirvana can also sync directly to a NAS or external drive, but it doesn't organize or manage metadata, it just syncs to whatever is there. 

Audirvana can use AudioUnits/VST plugins, this made it possible for me to test SonarWorks Reference 4 room correction software. This software was highly recommended by few friends that work in production studios, it is very robust while being very simple to use. After microphone/room calibration and 38 measurements, SonarWorks produced an AudioUnits plugin that I could use in Audirvana. Once loaded in Audirvana, you can control/adjust the SonarWorks plugin from within, its very simple and straightforward.

Audirvana uses UpnP and sees the Phantoms without issue (I had to restart them first), it recognizes them as 24/192 devices.

My Phantoms are connected via ethernet and everything runs super smooth, as I said before, I am mind blown by the sound improvement. Also, did I mention that Audirvana has a mobile app remote? So far, it works great from my iPad and iPhone.

This is the happiest I have been with the Phantoms and feel completely satisfied with their value and sound. Cheers!

Question for those of you on DOS2 using Audirvana. 
Can you select more upnp speakers for multiroom? 
I am on DOS1 and in Audirvana I can not, but I can use spark to drag n drop multiple speakers and then in Audirvana I can see the multiroom upnp show up. But I don´t know if you can use Spark at all when on DOS2? I know multi-room is coming to DOS2, but I worry its a AirPlay2 feature leaving 24/192 behind.

I have just downloaded the trial version of Audirvana 3.5 on to a 2019 iMac running the latest version Catalina. I have two Phantom Classics running DOS 2 (2.8.5) and whilst I can get Audirvana to play over Airplay I cannot see any preferences to use UPnP and the Phantom pair only appear in Devices when airplay is selected. Can anyone advise how I use UPnP with Audirvana 3.5 to play over UPnP?

Are you sure you're using Airplay and not UPnP?

I've just purchased Audirvana 3.5 after a few years away. I installed it on my MacBook Pro, selected my Gold Phantoms from the little wifi speaker icon at the bottom right of the app.

When I select the Phantoms in 'network', then by clicking on the '>', it opens a full page giving you all the details of the 'Active Device'.

This includes device type: UPnP network player, Supported PCM rates etc

This has been my setup since I installed the software, I've not selected anything else other than my required speaker output.

Thanks for the response. When I click on the little wifi speaker I don't see any item relating to the Phantoms. By default it just has Built-in Output and Kef X300A (which are my desktop speakers) so there is no available dialogue. If I go into the Macs Audio Output settings I do see the name of the Phantom stereo pair which in my case is 'Living room' the audio does indeed get played through the Phantoms and if I now click on the wifi speaker in Audiovarna it does show an output option of 'Living room' bu clicking on the '>' whilst showing additional information doesn't show any options relating to UPnP. When the audio is playing through the Phantoms the Mac does show it is using Airplay so at the moment I still seem stuck. Any other ideas?

Sorry, I'm at a loss. The first post in the thread mentions restarting the Phantoms to get their Mac mini to see the Phantoms, however as you've stated from within your system preferences, your iMac can already see the Phantoms.

I didn't have this issue though, I just started Audirvana, found my Music library and selected 'Living Room' from the network pane from the speaker wifi icon.

Sorry I can't be of any further help, I hope you get it resolved, the sound is impressive playing hi res files.
