PS: I think you've summed up the Devialet matters spot-on. Wink

Thanks Antoine!

All very well thanks - four weeks in and what an amazing journey already (first one for us).

Knackered but very happy, what could be better!

Congratulations Steve - I thought you'd been a bit quiet recently and now it's clear why!  Best wishes to you all.
Sine D200 release few years ago , I have a filing that Devialet is fooling us over and over again  .
- Air still suffer a lot of problems.
- Lack of new valuable firmware
- I have nothing to say about the Phantoms ...as you all remember Phantom development put us expert user on hold for 2 years .
- Even Power off is not powering off ..:-)
- Release 100 OdA  Masterpieces , and later release new product that has the same or more specs then the Masterpiece.

I must say that I was very proud to be Devilaet user since early D-Primer days , not any more!

So, if I understand correctly, the OdA was announced as being the limited edition pinnacle of Devialets achievements - something that only a few lucky peeps could snap up - assuring the proud owners of the highest status in the D ranks for the foreseeable future.  Then five minutes later, Devialet release a better model that everyone can have, but that OdA owners get 'upgraded' to FOC so they don't feel cheated? They will of course always have that unique case and limited edition serial number and signature I guess, assuming that is the gold case doesn't become an option on the 1000 (to match the new Phantom).

So what happened? They didn't think this through maybe? The OdA was massively delayed (custom packing crates can be a bugger to design and build I'm sure) and so came too close to the new model, or the investors eyes lit up with delight realising OdA technology could be sold to more people and escalated getting it out there?  Maybe a bit of everything - after all, if you're releasing a brand new model with a new OS, wouldn't it be better to actually have the OS ready at the same time rather than on a promise of 'some point in 2017'? I wonder if the old models will end up running the new OS anyway?

Once again Devialet have surprised even me! I knew I shouldn't have used any logic in my 2016 predictions.  I'm glad I've got less time/inclination to follow the brand to be honest.

Still, hope everyone's well!

Congratulations @Hifi_swlon!

From the perspective of an Od'A owner, I don't feel cheated. I never had the feeling that I have the best Devialet. It is a good gesture that Devialet is giving me a free upgrade, Devialet does not  have to do that. And I am proud that Devialet does not stop innovating, it is fatal to think that "I now have the best product that could not be bettered". A good product is meant to be shared, to be trickled down to the lower models so that more people will enjoy it.
One piece of new information I have gleaned, the (slightly hissy for some) phono stage is unchanged.

Not just oda customers I've heard. Maybe this will come as a field upgradeable board.

A big +1. It is a little sad to see this rumbling about whether I should stay or leave the EU... ahem! Devialet.

That sums it all(most). Most of it should find its way down the rest of the line I guess.

Yes but it isn't yet, is it? It's being trickled up!  Tongue
