This is the most interesting debate from of all these recent threads about upcoming updates and hardware changes as it seems to expose the apparently haphazard marketing strategy coming out of Paris.
Of course, once you pointed out the O d'A was released with limited fanfare but then it is quickly superceded by the 1000Pro and all other current users are advised there is an upgrade path for their units but without any mention of timeline or cost. So in a sense, offending your premier clients, the recent O d'A buyers, while effectively stalling sales of current stock and negatively driving down resale value for other current users, the efforts from Devialet seem slightly deranged.
Love my D400 but I have to question these strategies.
My take on this (and it's just a guess) is that Devialet might have had the plan to make a 1000 Pro and sell 100 limited edition versions of the 1000 Pro in copper for their 5 year anniversary (and call it the O d'A). They didn't make the deadline so decided to put the anniversary model out there with what was available.

They then introduced the 1000 Pro.

Then, to make up for what they had done, decided to upgrade the O d'A for free so at least the O d'A owners will get what they were initially  supposed to get.
They couldn't have told O d'A customers about the 1000Pro plan otherwise they wouldn't have sold any.

All this could have been avoided if we were just used to celebrating half dozen anniversaries instead of 5 year anniversaries.    Idea

So, I'm putting a vote forward for half dozen anniversaries. Let us celebrate the 6!  Big Grin

For those who can unfortunately not attend, could you please kindly report the Q&A session results Wink

For me it looks like the same whitepapers as the O'DA

thinking of upgrading the DP to 250 Pro but how much do you reckon a 250 Pro upgraded from DP would go for?

From what Mathieu said at the Oxford event, there is no new DAC between the Expert 800, the OdA and the 1000 Pro. There is no current intention to change the DAC.

My recollection of what he said at Oxford is that the OdA already has the new Magic Wire and the new Control Algorithm. In other words, what appears in the ADH Intelligence graphic for the 1000 Pro is already in the OdA.

The OdA needs updating to impending 1000 Pro levels in two areas, the power supply and the thermal management; and both will need the new streaming board in a year's time.

My understanding is that Magic Wire = DAC.

When the O d'A was launched no mention was made of a new Magic Wire or any changes to the ADH intelligence for that matter.

In the 1000 Pro collateral it is stated quite clearly that there is a new Magic Wire (with THD improved by more than 6db and a noise floor lowered by 2.5db).

The other area I'm not clear on is the Class A section. When the O d'A came out we were told that the Class A amps had been optimised, with their capacity to drive large current transients doubled.

The literature for the 1000 Pro however talks about a new physical design with the signal crossing two silicon junctions less for reducing THD.

So it seems as though there are a few of these little differences, which may or may not matter.

Then we have the small issue of the O d'A still showing version 3.3 of the ADH software after the 10.0.2 firmware update.

Here's an explanation of the 'magic wire' tech, the DAC is part of it.

Select the 'DAC' section and press 'only-for-audiophiles information' for the info.
