summarize the deference between Pro1000 and Oda.

Now that is the 64k dollar question...

Having spent the past month or two trying to get to the bottom of this I have to concede to being none the wiser. Other than 100W and a different coloured chassis I have absolutely no idea!

Guillaume

Seems the major difference, apart from firmware, is the PC-board aimed at running the future version of Devialet OS.
The other components seem to be already up-to-date AFAIU.
The AC filtering circuitry is clearly different at this moment. The OdA seems to be using the same as the current models but the 1000 no longer uses an of the shelf Schurter PEM but a more elaborate discrete design. Not sure if it's all on a seperate board or (in part) part of the mainboard in the 1000. It's difficult to see on the photo's that have been released thus far. Perhaps this will be upgraded in the HW upgrade next year.

The D-AMP board seems to be the same but whether the mainboard, containing the DAC and class A amps is the same is again hard to tell using these photo's.

I almost can't imagine Devialet is or will be using different streamer boards for the different new/upgraded models or that the OdA already has a different one than the current models.

Devialet uses version numbering on the boards so as soon as detailed photo's of the internals are shared we'll know for sure.
Hi Antoine,

You look to be right. But I have reservations as far as the pictures published in the marketing material are concerned.
This is very odd that dealers are not informed of the transformations of their products. Mine kept telling me that OdA didn't need to go back to Paris as there would not be major HW update.
Another source of frustration...

Indeed. It seems as though in some cases the dealers are very poorly informed.

In fact with the NDA in place until a few days ago it has been almost impossibly to clarify anything around the O d'A upgrades hence my earlier post about not really being sure of anything anymore. I wonder if this situation is a) positive for the customer and b) really necessary

What is even stranger is the fact that I talked to my dealer this week, as I was contemplating the purchase of a second amp for another installation. And the guy kept repeating erroneous information, even though he was relieved from the NDA.

As a consequence of all this, I decided to buy the small integrated amp from darTZeel...

Well there you go - that answers my question!

Guillaume
For me it looks like all about marketing.
All Oda will get firmware to 1000w
Additional board for upnp will be given free to oda cutomers.
The rest is bla bla..
Just catching up in the five free minutes since having a baby!  (Well, not quite, but time is short and better spent staring at the new bundle of joy rather than audio forums).

So, if I understand correctly, the OdA was announced as being the limited edition pinnacle of Devialets achievements - something that only a few lucky peeps could snap up - assuring the proud owners of the highest status in the D ranks for the foreseeable future.  Then five minutes later, Devialet release a better model that everyone can have, but that OdA owners get 'upgraded' to FOC so they don't feel cheated? They will of course always have that unique case and limited edition serial number and signature I guess, assuming that is the gold case doesn't become an option on the 1000 (to match the new Phantom).

So what happened? They didn't think this through maybe? The OdA was massively delayed (custom packing crates can be a bugger to design and build I'm sure) and so came too close to the new model, or the investors eyes lit up with delight realising OdA technology could be sold to more people and escalated getting it out there?  Maybe a bit of everything - after all, if you're releasing a brand new model with a new OS, wouldn't it be better to actually have the OS ready at the same time rather than on a promise of 'some point in 2017'? I wonder if the old models will end up running the new OS anyway?

Once again Devialet have surprised even me! I knew I shouldn't have used any logic in my 2016 predictions.  I'm glad I've got less time/inclination to follow the brand to be honest.

Still, hope everyone's well!
Hi Steve, congratulations to you and your wife on the birth of your new baby!! I hope both are alright and doing great! Smile

PS: I think you've summed up the Devialet matters spot-on. Wink
