Yes but it isn't yet, is it? It's being trickled up!  Tongue

In fact with the NDA in place until a few days ago it has been almost impossibly to clarify anything around the O d'A upgrades hence my earlier post about not really being sure of anything anymore. I wonder if this situation is a) positive for the customer and b) really necessary

What is even stranger is the fact that I talked to my dealer this week, as I was contemplating the purchase of a second amp for another installation. And the guy kept repeating erroneous information, even though he was relieved from the NDA.

As a consequence of all this, I decided to buy the small integrated amp from darTZeel...
Or how to ruin customer's loyalty in 21 lessons Sad

At least my dealer was truthful with me, he said that I had more information than he had and would get straight onto the distributor to see what more info he could get.

Again it appears that it's down to the lack of communication from Devialet, and not just to us Customers, but seems to their own Dealers also (not an NDA issue with my local dealer, just lack of info passed through to him).
I may have missed it, but what are the 'Pro' features?

New Class A and Class D amps.  New Magic Wire DAC.  New Power supply and filtering.

[Sarcasm]And the biggest new feature of all, a new streamer board available at a later date that does DLNA.[/Sarcasm]

"First time officially announced that Expert 1000PRO is ready for Devialet OS. The new OS streaming (DLNA/uPNP, Bluetooth, PLC, AirPlay and MORE), Phantom integration, will be available in 2017 with a free hardware upgrade."

So the big question is, what is "and MORE".   Maybe they haven't finalised the specs yet?

Ah, OK. I thought there might be some 'proper' pro audio features in there that I'd missed.... Otherwise Pro seems like an odd thing to tag on the end.

And that 'new' OS. They've allowed themselves 18 months by being non-specific with the 2017 so even if they haven't thought about what it might be or do yet, there's still plenty of time (for any company competent with software) to design, build, test and release. I'm not in the market anyway, but I certainly wouldn't be buying one on a non specific promise of those timescales though. That's more like political timescales rather than consumer electronics.

I guess the unit itself would have to be firmware based anyway otherwise it wouldn't work at launch as the OS isn't there yet. So am guessing the OS is just for streaming stuff. So maybe in 18 months RoonReady will be an option on the Expert range after all, for anyone that's still in the market by that point.

Angry  They better not!
Now here's a thought for the day...

Will Devialet actually sell many 1000 Pros?

Given that the market has just been saturated with 97 or so O d'As, it will be interesting to see how successful the 1000 Pro is. Some O d'As remain unsold and there is some evidence that dealers have been discounting stock to make way for the new 1000 model.

Will buyers be put off by the "work in progress" streamer module? And on the DAC side we haven't really heard any details other than some very abstract measurements (improved THD and noise floor), which I have to be honest mean very little to me. What about DXD and DSD x2?

I suppose what I am saying is: could Devialet have got the 1000 Pro wrong?
