Interesting points. Understand that the D800 is not really the best seller, low two digit sales apparently.

It doesn't help that the Expert 1000 Pro will be priced higher than the OdA over here. Madness, since a potential 1000 Pro buyer could be looking at the OdA instead.

Oddly enough, there are at least 2 pre-orders for the 1000 Pro but the lone OdA, which is cheaper, languishes. Seems odd initially but, with the 1000 Pro, the latest and greatest is instantly available while an OdA owner will have to wait till 2017 for the update - unusual turn of events, isn't it?

Still, it would appear that the 440 Pro will be the sweet spot, even if the 1000 Pro (based on the 400 vs 800) is likely to have the slightly warmer sound.

I speak only of my personal opinion based on my experience(s) dealing with Devialet, and my perception of them since buying it. Others feel differently and I respect that too. No confrontation required Wink

If I'd bought an OdA I'd be bloody upset right now, but fortunately I didn't (and wasn't likely to), so it's more me just being perplexed in this case. But even that said, if you release a new model, don't do it with a proviso that some key aspects of its USP will come 'in 2017' - that's just ludicrous. Get it all lined up ready for release.

That's the first time I'm reading 440 Pro. Do you know more than we do or is that just a guess?
Which could imply the single Devialet 200 could become a 220 Pro? *strokes chin*
Common sense would have the line as follows. But common sense isn't strong with Devialet.

150, 250, 500, 1000
130, 220 & 440, as of now, unless D changes its mind in September.

No idea about how the 250 will turn out.

Ah! you're addressing major stuff here!
How come they could be loosing the game on Thursday?
(05-Jul-2016, 10:04)Confused Wrote: [ -> ]I think the answer to this one is simple.  Back in 2013 I really did not want to buy a Devialet, there were a few reasons that it did not appeal to me.  However, after auditioning a whole range of rival products as a choice to power my chosen speakers, I came to the conclusion that the Devialet was easily the best for the money.  It's that simple at the end of the day.  If a rival manufacturer comes along and offers something better, I'd jump ship.  It not a case of brand loyalty.

I can recognize myself quite well in this picture. It's not a choice that I have regretted yet and I should probably disconnect from the forum and the Internet and simply enjoy the music for the next 10 years without ever thinking of upgrading again before that, like I have done with my previous amplifier.
But we don't seem to be able to ever stop thinking about new and exciting features that Devialet (or others) are tempting us with.

If they had managed to push streaming and software solutions as drivers of the new expert offering then that would have made sense to me.

I think the plan was to hit market with a streaming solution but that it has been delayed (at least twice), hence the 2017 deadline that we have seen floating around. My guess is that we what we are seeing is the result of a young company with some serious growth issues, aggravated by their recent success with Apple, which has probably moved (at lot) of the resources in the wrong direction (for us).

But then we may also watch some positive side-effects as some of that technology and money trickles down into the Expert line. It's not uncommon to see companies that address very different market segments with very different products, albeit they often split when they reach Fortune 100 and they struggle when they're young.

Well what can I say? Not a good situation at all. Well for me at least.  Angry

I'm still waiting for some clarity from Devialet on all this.
