To be clear, the NAS runs Jriver and will be connected thus:

NAS>USB>Mutec>AES>Devialet

Are you running the Linux version of JRiver directly on the NAS? In that case ALSA is interfacing with the Mutec USB, JRiver is playing via ALSA and your setup should work.

EDIT: Does your setup work directly connected to the Devialet USB?

Hi ogs

Yes, I'm running the Linux version of Jriver from the NAS. This is connected to the Devialet's USB port via an Intona USB isolator.  Thanks for your answer.

Alex.
I emailed Mutec yesterday to make sure that the MC-3+ USB will work in my intended setup. I got a reply back this morning at 8.51. How's that for efficiency? Chris, the guy who replied, said that it should work and asked me to send him feedback after I get the Mutec hooked up, so I said "sure" and also pointed him to this thread so that he can see how the unit is being used by us Devialet owners. I'm going to order it from Thomann when I have the funds and take advantage of their returns policy just in case the unit isn't suitable.  Smile

Alex.
I believe 'Chris' is Christian Peters, Mutec's CEO. I have had a couple of queries since owning my Mutec, and so far their correspondence has been very quick, clear and accurate. It sounds good too!

They are certainly on the ball. I can't wait to get my hands on one, it's got a great reputation . I can (hopefully)run my NAS drive and CD/SACD/BluRay player through it.
He might recognize some names here in this topic. Smile I too have had the pleasure of emailing with mr. Peters. Mutec is another company Devialet can learn a lot from, their communication is excellent!

Enjoy Axel! Smile

Same here, very pleased how quickly Mr. Peters responded. Problem was realted to a bad cable Angel
I will keep my Mutec and not return it to Thomann.
I did some comparisons on the weekend. Firmware 10.0.2 with Air 3.0 compared to my current setup with the Mutec mc-3+ USB.
I'm connecting the Mutec (updated to firmware 1.10) to a fanless mini PC, but not with USB but with a QED Reference Toslink cable. Much better than any USB connection.
The Mutec is connected to the Devialet with a good AES/EBU cable from Oyaide. For both setups I'm using the Bug Head IB player.
I think the SQ of AIR has improved compared to the old AIR version, but no contest with the Mutec. In comparison Air sounds like a cheap CD player compared with a very good streamer. The Mutec offers much more details, air and control. The sound is much more "analog".
I think this will be my source for a very long time...
Guys,

Do you think that the Mutec + USB would add/ improve my setup? Currently I am running with an Aurender N100H as source to USB!

Any thoughts?
I would be surprised if not, but in the end you can only try it out.
