And the firmware update for the MC-3+ USB, which is supposed to improve SQ even without the new 10MHz clock, should be available end of June. Existing MC-3+ USB will be upgradable through their USB port.
I am looking forward to see someone that tests their microRendu with a Mutec and uses the AES input on their Devialet. I hope that it wont make a big differens cause I dont want to get another box to fiddle with Smile

You mean in comparison to a microRendu connected directly to the Devialet USB input? Time will tell but I don't think it's very likely that that won't make a big difference, in fact I think the chance of that is <10%, sorry! Wink (just hypothesizing here but bottleneck probably being the sub par quality of the USB input of the Devialet or anything messing with the signal after it (like an ASRC or internal transmitter), poor clocking, or it simply being inside of the Devialet interfering with the other internal components due to emitted RFI/EMI noise or dirtying of the ground planes).
Antoine - Look forward to your results with the microRendu and Mutec. Love to hear if adding the microRendu makes a difference.

Any chance you might have time to also compare with using just he microRendu into the D250? I know that is a pain, given you already enjoy the Mutec and the AES input into the D250.

Yes I mean compared to microRendu directly to Devialet USB input.
If the Mutec makes a difference to the better I might get one, just needs to get a PSU that powers both the microRendu and the Mutec. Think I will use the microRendu with iFi PSU and USB on my D400 for a while and see what happens with the Mutec, will talk to Paul Hynes about a PSU that can power all of my stuff.

Hi baddog, I will surely report my findings but they could take some time as unfortunately I can only start with a very cheap Chinese EBay LPSU. It may take three to four weeks until I receive a proper PSU (Paul Hynes SR7EHD-MR4). In general I also like to take time to make a more firm 'assessment' if however the results even with that cheap PSU are immediately clear as in clearly better on all aspects I wouldn't need to wait that long.

I believe I did write it elsewhere on this forum that I indeed might test the mR without Mutec but I'm giving it low priority. The ethernet/WiFi and USB inputs on my Devialet are all already disabled and I don't like that comparison to interfere with the comparison to my current setup. I might not test it until after I've received the Hynes PSU.

The bigger webshops like Thomann (also active in/for Sweden) offer a 30 day return option so you could try it for yourself with low risk if of course it is indeed a/the way you're likely to go/like going. I'm sure in time other user experiences using the mR with and without the Mutec will also come to computeraudiophile.com for example.

Good luck again with figuring out all the PSU options. I must say that Paul Hynes has been very helpful for/to me in figuring it all out so I wouldn't hesitate in describing your wishes to him and let him advise you a good solution. Don't email him too much though, he needs to finish my PSU too! Wink
If I decide to try a Mutec I will wait untill they have the new firmware inplace. Just need to get some sort of decent AES cable to try it with, dont want to buy a Cabledyne just to test it.
I believe you would not be disappointed with the AES cables offered by DH Labs, reasonably priced as well, great folks to work with.
The built in PSU in the Mutec MC3 is that 6.0V or 6.3V? I have seen both on different forums. I have plans to get one and run it with my microRendu and get a PSU that runs both the microRendu and the Mutec, probably a Paul Hynes.
I've read 6.0, 6.2 and 6.3V from different people. Smile I've asked Paul Hynes to dial the rail of my SR7EHD-MR4 that will power the Mutec to 6.2V but will measure the output voltage on the internal SMPS before firing it up. That is if I finally decide to mod the Mutec, which of course will void it's warranty.
