I will remove the USB Ethernet dongle and use this switch and try ... will update you guys as to what happens.

Looking forward to hearing your results!   If that works, that certainly would imply that you're running gigabit to the Devialet.    Be sure to reboot everything when you do it and then stream a hi-res album. For me, any album at 192kHz, 24Bit always failed whereas a regular CD rip only occasionally had problems.

And thanks for giving it a try!
- Hooked up ethernet from Switch to Router
- Same for Roon Nucleus
- Same for Devialet

Switch is Netgear gigabit

Result:  ERROR and repeatedly error ... once I got "Audio file is loading slowly" ...

Conclusion:  Could NOT implement Roon RAAT

=========================================

- Put back my AQ Diamond ETH Nucleus to Devialet
- Ethernet from Router to USB-to-Ethernet dongle

And Voila !   all good again    (must add that it is obvious that the dongle is the internet speed limiter to 100mbps and hence it works)

DEVIALET - FRANCE ... You need to fix this
Well, I hate to see it fail on you but good to know there's consistency in the testing. What I don't understand is Devialet's claim that it works for them on their gigabit network.
This test result is interesting but (for me) raises more questions than it answers. First of all, it would be helpful to know whether @audio_engr's Devialet actually has a Gigabit Ethernet connection in both configurations - I would guess so from first principles, but perhaps not.

Is there a reliable way to find the link speed of the Devialet's network interface? I don't know off the top of my head whether it's visible from the Dev's info display; maybe it's possible to ssh into the Nucleus and find out with ethtool?

If the Dev does have a Gigabit link in both cases, that means the overall behaviour depends on something other than the link speed of the connection to the Devialet, which might explain why Devialet are not able to reproduce the problem.

Either way, although this test result provides an extra data point I'm not clear that it helps to diagnose the root cause of the problem.

Another configuration that might be interesting to try is:

Nucleus - USB/Ethernet - Gigabit switch - Devialet
I think it is quite clear by now that the Devialet ethernet port does not work properly on gigabit when using RAAT (TCP) but works on AIR (UDP). Both RAAT and AIR works when the Devialet port is at 100 Mbps speed (as is the case in my setup). @mdconnelly  has done a fine job with his tests. There may exist switches that will work at gigabit with the Devialet input, but something is clearly not right as this should work with all. It is of course strange that nobody has reported errors streaming high-res on gigabit using UPnP which I guess is TCP. Does anyone know if UPnP is TCP?
@ogs - for the avoidance of doubt, I wasn't criticising the test, but rather expressing some confusion on my part about the result.
When I started digging, I figured the problem was one of 3 possible:

1) Roon's problem
2) Devialet's OS/Firmware problem
3) My home network problem (router or cabling)

At this point, I'm fairly confident it's not an issue with my network.   Since Roon RAAT seems to work fine on all other endpoints, my ever-so-clever deduction is that it is NOT likely a Roon problem either which leaves... a Devialet problem - hopefully one that can be solved via an OS/firmware update.   My guess is that Roon is being quiet waiting for Devialet to fix it (just as they were ever so quiet waiting for Devialet to integrate the Roon RAAT capability.   But, I can't let Roon off the hook because their testing did not reveal this problem (which, in and of itself, is quite surprising).

Be that as it may, slowing my ethernet to 100 mbps to my Devialet via a $9 switch is both cheap and effective.    I'll leave it to Roon & Devialet to slug out the proper fix (but I probably won't be able to resist nagging them occasionally if they don't ;-)  Tongue

As I said, I'm using the same switch. My Antipodes and my Devialet are both connected directly to the switch and the switch connects to my Orbi router. I have never seen the "Audio file is loading slowly" message, either with Roon streaming music from the drive in my Antipodes or with Roon streaming from Tidal. The indicator lights for each connection on the switch show I've got gigabit ethernet on all connections. I'm not noticing any problem with RAAT and gigabit ethernet.

The only difference between your & my setup is Antipodes for you & Nucleus for me ...

Now what could be the issue that mine doesn't play yet your does ?

Anyone comment on this ?
@David A - I must have missed your earlier post... If Roon RAAT (not AIR) is working for you over gigabit to your Devialet, then you're the first I've seen confirm that. Are you streaming a hi-res (e.g. 192kHz, 24Bit) album to test it?

Sorry, I'm totally unfamiliar with the Antipodes DS so no idea whether it does gigabit (but I suspect it must if your switch is indicating so).

The mystery continues...
