I fixed this issue and when occasionally it returns, a couple times, I fixed it immediately with the following routine:

- Pull out power from Expert
- Pull out ethernet from Expert
- Plug in power to Expert
- Check wifi bears appear
- Play something on Roon
- Plug in ethernet - wifi bars disappear and Roon pauses
- Press play on Roon

It only takes a minute and it gets Roon working properly.

It have feeling it is auto-negotiation going wrong. Whatever it is, this fixes it for me the 3 times I've had to do it.
Slow Ethernet Network with Duplex Mismatch and Autonegotiation:

Many unmanaged switches do not offer duplex settings and always use autonegotiation. At these switches, the terminals are thus forced to set to autonegotiation. Some NIC manufacturers also refer to autonegotiation as autosensing, autodetection or mediasensing. Clients connected to a hub must always be set to half-duplex.

It has unfortunately been shown that the combination Autonegotiaton / Autonegotiaton does not always work reliably. Therefore, it is best to set both partners firmly to the same standards.

It therefore always applies: For full utilization of the bandwidth, both link partners (Switch, PC) must be configured to the same duplex settings. Either both fixed on full duplex or both on autonegotiation. If half duplex is plugged together with full duplex, then there is apparently a data transmission, but with an extreme number of collisions, which can lead over time to a complete standstill of the entire network. Gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-T, 1000Base-SX, 1000Base-LX) is always transmitted only full duplex. Full duplex is only available with switches.

For the network user, a duplex mismatch is manifested by extremely poor network performance. An increase in performance of up to 200% by simply adjusting the settings is actually possible. The degradation in performance due to a duplex mismatch is directional. The performance of the half-duplex port is particularly strong during transmission.

PC Ethernet Card Speed & Duplex set to 100 Mbps Full Duplex and problem sorted!

Well, symptoms sorted at least... problem still lies with Devialet to correct this so that Roon RAAT can properly work at gigabit speed to our Expert Pros.   For what it's worth, I do still occasionally see the music appear to stop/stutter - even at 100 mpbs speed.  But it's rare enough that I can live with it just fine.

Not holding my breath on when they'll get it fixed but I'm confident it will be... eventually.
I have had the slow loading problem sometimes with TIDAL and my gigabit network and a Netgear 24port switch. It was not a big problem for me, but I have bought an used Cisco switch only for audio (recommend as perfect for audio) and limited my router lan port at 100 MBit. Today the same slow loading problem occured with 100 MBit.

I have tried to ping all my network devices (over 40). The only device with lost packages was the Devialet Expert...

Which model Cisco switch is it you have?

I had the same slow loading problems with drop outs and tracks re-starting.

I bought a used 8 port Cisco Catalyst 2960 switch and a TPLink MC200CM gigabit média converter.

My incoming Broadband DSL router is connected to the Cisco switch via the TPLink optical connection to the Cisco Gigabit SFP port. My Devialet is connected to one of the 100M bit ports on the Cisco switch.

I have my Roon server connected to one of the gigabit ports on my incoming broadband router so the server is optically isolated from the rest of the Audio network.

My Cisco switch is a managed switch, but it’s been factory reset so is in effect an unmanaged switch. It works perfectly with Roon now.

I can ping the Devialet with no lost packets.

My issues were resolved by using wireless instead of ethernet connection. The sound quality for Tidal is excellent and had no dropouts or any other errors. I really enjoyed some music yesterday. Started off by playing Madeleine Peyroux in the background, but then the music got so good, I stopped whatever I was doing and sat in a chair to listen to the Album.

I use an 8 port Cisco Catalyst 2960 switch (used and I think factory reseted), too. The router is a Fritz Box cable 6490. The NUC und the Devialet are connected to the Cisco. The Cisco is connected to the one of the Fritz Box Lan ports switched to 100 Mbit energy save mode.
Hello, I read the reports of you all with the problems of slow loading. I had the same problems when Roon ran on my Mac mini / notebook (see chat # 120), since Roon is running on a NUC I have no problem anymore. Did not change network (100/1000) or other. That did not leave me any peace, so yesterday I installed a brand new Lenovo notebook with Roon. Then Qobuz streamed to Devialet and Sonos, all right. After an hour, the problems started again, turned off the Devialet and wanted to stream with Sonos, was no more. Have an album to play selected, after 10 min. the music started to play. After all this behavior, the cause can only be due to the Roon software, and not to Devialet, otherwise the streaming with Sonos would have to work. As far as my experience !! Shy
Here's my story & also holds good for @David A

I bought my Roon Nucleus some 8 months back (replacing my Macbook Air) and @David A got his Roon Nucleus+ about a month back. Ever since I got my Nucleus, I had set it up direct to my 440-Pro CI using Ethernet via an Audioquest Diamond ETH cable. When @David A got his, he asked me how to setup his Nucleus+ to his Devialet 140 using the Direct Ethernet method and I told him how I had done mine. He too was able to setup easily and things went about all good till a few days back, David sent me a long message saying that our Roon Servers were connected to the Devialet over WiFi and not the Ethernet as we had wished it was.

David worked very hard for a few days and managed to setup his Nucleus+ using 'manual IP settings' which he then copied into the Devialet's configurator as a static setup and fully reinstated the DIRECT Nucleus+ Server to Devialet Ethernet connection. I too followed David's instructions and last evening was able to get mine going.

Yes, we are using the gigabit internet connection on the Roon Server and directly streaming to our respective Devialets. The proof of this is that the Amber/Orange LED on the RJ45 socket of our Roon Server is constantly lit thus indicating true gigabit internet speed.

I MUST TOTALLY DEDICATE THIS POST TO @David A for relentlessly working hard to first - notice the mistake we were doing and then - crack it to correctly reinstate it. Thank you! @David A

New Observations [after reinstating the gigabit ethernet connection direct to the Devialets].

1. The entire bass line (low freq) took a huge leap with great definition and correct pitch of the low notes. It also added "dimension" so much so that spaciousness developed within the music that also helped to add more clarity from botton-to-top of the entire frequency range.

2. Midrange definition is now much superior.

3. True 24/192 files play brilliantly and also sound devastatingly good ..  Smile

4. Neither of us so far experienced 'any dropouts' or 'the audio file is loading slowly' issues.

5. Absolutely no issues streaming with TIDAL or QOBUZ.

6. No issues to stream and play 16/44.1, 16/48, 24/88.2, 24/96, 24/176.4, 24/192 and also DSD files.

I am sure @David A will add his bit as a post soon here.
