This is insane actually. They got such a willing and motivated partner in Roon are not even able to fix this which is around and annoying users for months. Think they shouldn’t have the Roon Ready certificate any longer if they don’t meet the requirements of a stable functionality.
Now that the new Roon 1.7 with streaming improvements has been released, does anyone continue with cuts in the playback of 192/24 files or even lower resolutions?

Unfortunately, I still have cuts (about 5 or 6 seconds) although the slow network warning is not shown now.
This occurs using a Synology NAS (D-220 Pro and NAS both connected to the router directly without a switch with CAT 7 cable) and also with an external USB 3.0 HD. This happens with Roon RATT and a new powerful dedicated laptop with Windows 10 without running other programs.

I´m considering buying a NUC and installing ROCK but I am not sure that this will solve the problem Huh .

Not being a network expert, i would appreciate any help since it seems that neither Devialet nor Roon will do it so after all this time.

Thank you very much.

Recently I changed from on old i5 PC to a much higher spec i9 9900K machine.  I have just tried some 24 bit material using the Devialet's Roon Ready mode via wired Ethernet.  I too get stuttering and the odd drop out for maybe 4 or 5 seconds when playing 24/192, but no audio file loading slowly message.  This is different behaviour to what I have seen in the past, when I did get the file loading slowly message.  So it is interesting that we both no longer get the dreaded file loading message, but I would also say that in my case a change to a much more powerful PC has not helped the issue, so this would cast some doubt over a NUC helping.  Basically I think the issue lurks elsewhere.

Switching back to my sMS-200Ultra Neo, 24/192 material plays perfectly, faultless, zero issues.  So the only variable I have to change to solve the problem is to take Devialet's Roon Ready mode out of the chain.  For the record, I can also run 24/192 with the Roon integrated Devialet AIR mode without any problems.
I still get on occasions the files loading slowly problem and tracks skipping from one to another. In my case the solution is to reboot my MacBook Air. I do not reboot the MacBook on a daily basis and it is obvious that the operating system needs a reset every so often to at least manage Roon and its interface to the Devialet.

I agree that the power of the PC is not the cause of the problem (my laptop has an i7-9450H, 16 GB DDR4-2666 RAM and with Roon installed on an SSD-M2 disk).

I had thought about using the NUC not because of the power of the hardware but because of the optimization of the software that ROCK implies.

Is it necessary to use network bridge like your sMS-200Ultra Neo with a Devialet? Do you connect it via USB to the Devialet? There is another model that has an excellent quality / price ratio. I refer to the Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 Ultra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CX-pZRh...ex=21&t=0s  Could it work for this purpose just like the sMS-200Ultra Neo?

Thanks for your help

While I can't really provide any compelling evidence to the contrary I thought the whole point of DOS 2 was the unification of all Devialet's product lines (Expert CI, Phantom, Reactor)?  Currently the former is on DOS 2.2.4 and the latter two are on DOS 2.8.x.  Presumably the goal is to get them onto the same code branch at some point, and once that is done protocols like RAAT will only have to be implemented and fixed once?  I certainly hope that's the plan.
I used to get this "audio file loading slowly" bug that kept RAAT from working properly on gigabit ethernet esp. with 24/192 files.

In the last 2 months, I did 2 things :

1. Install etherREGEN with B-side @100 Mbps to Devialet

2. Discard my ISP Verizon's WiFi Router & install Ubiquiti's EdgeRouter X-SFP and run Fiber-optic carrying Gigabit internet direct to etherREGEN SFP port on A-side.

All the issues that I was facing with RAAT has so far disappeared incl. frequent logout of either Tidal or Qobuz that became a nightmare.
@audio_engr - I've been toying with the idea of the etherRegen and I suspect that just it's B-side output at 100mbps should have addressed the gigabit ethernet issue. Can you comment on any changes in SQ with the etherRegen or the new router?
I was also not facing any Raat issue with the 100 mbit ports of the Melco S100 before I tried introducing an etheregen.

Still trying to figure out which one sounds best.

Cheers,
Bernard

I suspect that your suspicion is correct. It's the B-side output at 100 mbps that's addressing the gigabit ethernet issue. I didn't change anything else in my network when I got my therREGEN and connecting my 140 Pro to the B-side fixed the gigabit problem in my system. Having said that, I should add that I only noticed the gigabit problem in my system when I streamed content at 192/24 and, since I have no files at that resolution, that meant that I had to set Roon to upsample everything to 192/24 in order to notice the problem. Normally I leave the upsampling to the Devialet but I did specifically have Roon upsample everything to 192/24 for a while after getting the EtherREGEN and did not run into the problem whereas prior to getting the EtherREGEN I always ran into the problem if I had Roon upsample to 192/24.

Re changes in SQ with the EtherREGEN: I'd put the changes I've noticed down to a lowering of the noise floor. The big change for me was that the music itself became more cohesive. Prior to the EtherREGEN the sound of each musician in a group seemed to draw my attention more than the sound of the group as an ensemble did. That reversed with the EtherREGEN. I can still follow what individual musicians are doing if I want to, that's just as easy or easier than it was before, but the individual sounds in the music seem to blend together a bit more than before and I find myself paying more attention to the ensemble sound than previously.
