I programmed the Tone button of the Devialet remote for SAM ON/OFF and when I press it, it either turns SAM on or SAM off.  But how do I adjust the percentage of SAM?

Press the middle button for a few seconds an cycle through the options (Bass, Treble etc) until you get to SAM %

Devialet: when will you implement the SAM % to be adjustable from the control app, as well as all other parameters that can be adjusted?
One should not have to leave their listening position to do so.

The short answer is they won't be updating the app. I'm pretty sure they are putting all of their efforts into having one solution that suits Phantom & Expert... that being Spark. Will probably have to wait until Dialogue is compatible with Expert.
Sorry for being a bit Lazy today and not reading all of this thread first (been too busy exploring new music with Roon/Tidal), but can anyone say how this compares to 7.1.1?

My replacement unit had come back to me with firmware 7.1.2 installed. No idea what that is really, but I found after a couple of days listening I had a bit of ringing ears and a headache. It had seemed a bit aggressive in the treble, albeit very detailed, and I couldnt get it quite right even with EQ. So I went back to 7.1.1 which is what I'd stuck with before, but I'd forgotten all about the firmware trials as I hadn't used it for so long. Anyway, things are instantly better to these ears. More natural. Better (more) bass. I think I was compensating to get the bass levels and sound to what I was used to by listening louder. Music seems so relaxed by comparison now. Perhaps a bit less detail, but so much nicer to listen to.

I'd be very interested to hear from anyone else that loves (or loved) 7.1.1 as to whether the latest is more along those lines or further away?

Install 7,1,3 Beta and use it with config file You have now with 7.1.1.

Than compare it with 8,1,3 Beta

These two firmwares are IMO the most musical ones.
After some prolonged listening I have to say that I prefer 8.1.3 Beta. Go ahead and have a good laugh Devialet folks but that is the way I feel and I am sticking with it. Tongue

I'd already ruled out 7.1.3 in my previous listening.
So I plumped straight for 8.1.3beta downloaded from here.

That lasted about 5 mins, maybe less, and I was straight back to 7.1.1.  It just seemed brighter and bass-shy and more grating.

I guess 7.1.1 is my thing and where I'll be for the forceable future - which is fine by me, so far all the new features are things I don't use. Perhaps its my source, or my hearing, or my system or all those things, but 7.1.1 is the only one thats not felt fatiguing and a bit harsh.  But then as I always say, in my setup I feel I'm already running on that line of things a bit too bright or borderline….

Hi Morten,
I really don't understand your comment. In my system there is absolutely no difference in the volume. No matter if I use 7.x or 8.x firmware versions, I always listen with the same volume setting around -25. Why do you have to reduce the volume with 8.1.3 ??

Bernd

Sorry, been away for some weeks, perhaps it is only my imagining, but with first listen it seemed to be louder...

Kind regards
Morten
I find the volume I need to use varies vastly from album to album or track to track even, these things can be a bit misleading I think.
Both 7.1.3 and 8.1.3 seemed louder (overall) to me too. It might be because they have more emphasis on the highs so it hurts your ears quicker. So far enjoying 8.1.3 enough not to want to change it. And when it get a bit too bright I just turn down the treble a bit. Tone controls are still my favorite feature of the Devialet.
I have not enough time for heavy listening sessions to compare versions, I'm with the 8.1.3 beta (not yet tried the 8.1.3), and also I really enjoy the flavour of his beta version.
There is this little thing that makes me happy when I listen to 2 or 3 tracks as well as to hours of music !

@Pim van Vliet, I must admit I almost never touch the treble button now with this beta compared to the previous 8 versions.....
