Having listened to 8.1.3 for a few weeks now, I'm happy. Who would have thought it? A Devialet owner? Happy? (Just kidding, BTW).

In my system, it's a little bright - on some songs. But, do'you know what? I've experimented for a few weeks now, and I prefer the slight brightness of 8.1.3 to the other FWs.

On female vocals (my thing), it sounds stunning - check out the amazing Rosanne Cash track.
Song:
A Feather's Not A Bird
Album:
The River & The Thread.
Enjoy!
Sorry I am late to the game. Just received my 200 a couplf of weeks ago with FW7.1.1 installed. Missed verything in between. Could someone be kind enough to send me a copy of the 7.1.3 (or is it 7.1.3 beta) ? Thanks.
flyer thanks.
Ok, i'm back at 7.1.3beta. In the end this is the only firmware that brings rest en peace in my mind. After listening for 2 weeks to 8.1.3beta i switched back and immediately there was a smile on my face. This is the firmware that was on my devialet when i bought it and i'm still in love with it.
Can anyone remind me; if I want to make a new config for firmware 7.1.1 can I do this via the Configurator or do I have to get Devialet to do it?  I seem to remember SAM changing, but I'm not sure if the Configurator writes a file with the appropriate values for all firmware?

I made a new one yesterday, and it works, but the bass doesn't seem to be as pronounced as if I go back and load on an old config file.  Trouble is I need to re-config the inputs, and sleep timing etc.  I've kind of lost where we are with it all!

Wouldn't it be nice if the Configurator asked you what firmware you were going to be using the file with…..

[ I know this is the 8.1.3 thread, but I did try that this week too Dodgy ]
Finally on 8.1.3!

I feel it is cleaner and more 'behaved' or 'balanced'. Though I lost some bass (or at least something bom bom) but also the slight boom/thump I had before. In some way I feel it is a bit more linear through the freq spectra. Also a bit less top freq which seem to contradict others experience.
But formost I lost some loudness, perhaps 5 dB which is surprising as others reported 'louder' character.

All for now/Mike

Interesting observations.  Having now spent some time on 8.1.3, I think some of my observations re bass are very similar to yours.  However, I had put this down to SAM 2 differences.  So are you comparing to an earlier 8.x.x or 7.x.x version, and with or without SAM?
Finally, what are the differences you noticed between 8.1.3beta and 8.1.3 ?

I was on 8.1.2 before ie SAM V2 and the difference isn't small vs 8.1.3. More interesting is that my 8.1.2 SAM setting was 25% but know I can run 100% without any problem with 8.1.3.
But I think I read somewhere that enabling delay for Master may disengage SAM even if system says it is on SAM, or? In general not much difference between SAM and no SAM (coherence wise) except the really deep bass notes that SAM now gives (so I guess SAM is working).
These are my initial findings, will spend some more focused time tomorrow with well know recordings.

Personally LOVE 8.1.3. In my mind it's the best my devialet has delivered. Now I'm afraid to ever upgrade again.
