Hello.

It is on the unit, normal it is white.

What I mean, last time I had the noise I restarted the Air software, this time I just chose different music, and the new music played.

But yes, I agree it will likely come again at some time.

Kind regards Morten
The orange dot indicates that the input signal is loud enough to cause clipping, too loud in other words. The Devialet flashes the orange dot to indicate that it is clipping the maximum volume of the input signal to avoid damage or overload in the amp. You see it some times when a running a cartridge via the phono input with the cartridge max input level set too low in the Configurator. So what this tells us is that not only is the white noise is annoying, it is also really very loud!

For the record, I was using iTunes with the sound card GUI set to 16/44 for many hours last weekend, no issues at all, 10 minutes after switching to JRiver WASAPI, white noise, then white noise again after 10 minutes, I've mentioned similar before, but this pattern appears to be absolutely repeatable for me now.

Did you share this info with Devialet? The easier it is to reproduce the problem, the easier to fix it.
Not yet, but I'll send off a query tomorrow, it's perhaps worth it just to get an update on their progress.

This looks much more like a problem in JRiver's programming than a Devialet fault.....

Hence, this report should be shared with JRiver.
@Mohmm - I take your point! However, this one is not quite so simple. For example, if I set the Devialet AIR and sound card GUI to 24/192, (which I used to do, to give the option of playing 24bit files via JRiver) and run with just iTunes only, then I would typically get white noise in about one and a half hours, without even ever starting JRiver. Running iTunes with everything set to 16/44, everything seams to be stable. It's a tricky one this white noise issue!

I see. My comment refers to the fact that, given this chat is about D, Devialet as the culprit is at the top of the head. My experiences with JRiver, Amarra, etc were mostly negative and I stay away of them. With iTunes/Dirac/AIR/ethernet or iTunes/PureMusic/Dirac/ethernet i never had a noise issue.
@Mohmm - For a variety of reasons, I am actually one of those rare people who likes iTunes. I guess I have drifted towards JRiver etc in the pursuit of sound quality and for 24bit support. It would be interesting if you could share any positive (or negative) experiences you might have with iTunes optimisation etc. I'm sure this would be of interest to many. Probably a candidate for a new thread?

Hello,
I have the same "white noise problem" with foobar 2000. Devialet first believed that the problem was with JRiver, but it is not. Maybe Wasapi? I tried with 2 computers, Windows 7 32 bit, and Windows 8.1 64 bit, same problem (bitperfect on, 192 kHz flac files, white noise heard after 30-40 minutes). At the moment Devialet has no real solution.
Best regards,
Sylvain

I also use Foobar2000, so the player has little to do with it.
I tend to think the problem is not with WASAPI per se (although it may be exacerbated by it), but with AIR. The variation encountered by @Confused is very special indeed and my own experience appears to corroborate it: I think it's enough to change a setting in AIR (@Confused changed the WASAPI mode; I'd once changed the buffer length), and if you don't restart AIR, you'll soon get the white noise.
