I tried Air 3 beta yesterday but got a dropped connection twice so I didn't bother to continue with it. Back to 2.1.3 for me!
I'm back to USB as well, with Air 3 i'll get tiny dropouts maybe every 4/5 hours, it's way better than Air 2 but the thought that it will occur sometimes does not make for a relaxing listen to music.

I've been using Audivarna 2.5 today with AIR 3 and it's working OK for me but I find it seems to take a few attempts to play another file with a different sample/bitrate to the one I just played - it's not immediate. Maybe 20 seconds or so before it seems to become playable. otherwise it just sits there on 00:00 not doing anything.  But I don't have to do anything else.

I seem to remember with earlier versions of AIR that there was an option to set sample/bitrate. Is it my faulty memory? AIR 3 seems to be auto-sensing.
Last night I played a few more songs. I'm not patient enough to wait 20 whole second, so that didn't cross my mind to try. What worked was clicking on the "Stop" button (pauze doesn't work) and after that again selecting the song. It's just a problem when you play songs with different sample rates. Since Guillaume doesn't have this problem with version 1.5 it could be a problem with the interaction between AIR and Audirvana 2.x. I'm going to try some different settings coming weekend.

Yep, I've found exactly the same. The '20 seconds' was a bit of an exaggeration. I tried again and it's maybe 5-10 seconds with stop/play perhaps repeating it a few times. It's not a big deal but is a little confusing.
I've unchecked "Direct Mode". That seems to have tackled it. Switching between samplerates is working now.

I have this too. Most of the time i have choose a different input on the Devialet and then switch back to Air to make it work again. Not a big issue but not how it is suppose to work. But there is something in this Air 3 sound that makes me want to stay listening in comparison to USB.
Streaming from Qobuz desktop. Increased buffer size to max whatever it was. Selected CD quality output.

Works perfectly! No glitches.

Sound quality not as great as locally stored files but it is perfectly acceptable. Very enjoyable.  Smile

Let it play all night and just got up. There was a little crackle in the back ground. I paused the music, expecting it to stop after a second (1000ms delay set) but it played on for quite some time longer. Then, when I started it again it took again a number of seconds before the music started. So I tried again. Paused and counted till the music stopped; 13 seconds (counting myself). Played music again: 19 seconds on the Amarra clock!

Somebody is doing some serious buffering and it aint me  Big Grin

Had a LOT of fun playing last night so that must say something about the sound quality. Subjectively I would say it could be better than USB but I want to do some A/B testing tonight to make sure.

Crackle is gone
Whilst drinking my morning coffee, the crackling came back again. Halfway through a song. I let it play on and it went away once the next song started. It's just like playing vinyl again Wink

Well, I wasted several hours this evening trying to get this working, but it turns out to be an even bigger pile of sh*t than the previous incarnations. If this is the best that the arrogant ****heads can come up with in 2 years then there is no hope. They have clearly not invested one iota of effort in making sure that this plays nicely with Roon, with the result that it keeps hanging my Mac to the point of requiring a hard reset. I can't even comment on SQ - the bloody thing wouldn't play long enough for me to go downstairs and sit in front of my speakers. Utterly, utterly pathetic. Devialet can go to hell, and soon.

Why would they make sure it works with Roon or even test it with Roon?

I would expect it to work with any player on the Mac as long as that player has AIR as its output but I'm no computer technician. I have to say though, if a little crackling once in a while is as bad as it gets, then for me it's a keeper. Since El Capitan my USB gives a crackle after long playing too but that gets MUCH worse.

Still having a giggle about this delay! Does anyone else have a 15-20 second delay? As I posted earlier, the delay set is 1000ms.

Why should they not?  It has been requested by any number of people from this forum and elsewhere. Even if they arrogantly choose not to become "Roon Ready" their virtual sound card should be stable enough not to crash the OS at the slightest provocation. They have had long enough to get it right by now.

Roon may be at fault here, too. The latest build has been causing unnecessary stoppage while playing. So, we can't solely put the blame on AIR. And, AIR is an unique hifi-grade audio sound card interface which is proprietary to Devialet. And, I don't see any reason why Devialet has to share its patent/technology with others. And, I don't believe Roon will share theirs, too. Like any software, there are numerous ways that can screw up in between. To be fair, a manufacturer can decide what and who to work with. And, we have plenty of hifi choices out there to choose from, if Devialet is no longer meeting our needs and wants.
