HK - I just downloaded the Tidal desktop app and made the settings changes - I didn't even know this existed!
Thanks for the tips guys!

They previously had some code to override the Audio MIDI settings and now they have taken it out.

Is this when playing through iTunes only? With Audirvana Plus 1.5.12 as long as I deselect Direct Mode and Integer mode in preferences it doesn't seem to have issues with changing bitrates. If I select those two options the music will just stop in between two tracks with different bitrates.

I have only tried using iTunes. The iTunes bit perfect option, which changes sample rate on the fly, seems to have been deleted entirely from 3.0 beta, certainly there is no longer an opportunity to select it in settings.
As I wrote in the earlier post I may try with one of the multiplicity of other bits of software I have, most of which switch sample rate themselves iirc.
Sadly they all are tedious to set up and some interfere with each other.
I used to use Amarra and it was incompatible with Air.

I use Amarra and it works fine most of the time. I haven't noticed any problems with sample rate changes.

Edit: Come to think of it. I've never been able to get it to work with Air 2. whatever either.
I only had a brief experience with AIR2 when I first got the OdA, playing a FLAC file from iTunes but it sounded so awful compared to the same song from my CD transport. Thrilled to read about the new AIR3b, many said it sounded as good as a dedicated server. Now I may not even need to buy an Aurender or the Melco Big Grin  Just curious anyone compared the AIR3 with a CD transport?

Tried AIR two years ago and was very disappointed. Using USB between my Mac mini and die Devialet is not only perfect to handle and stable, but sounds a lot better to me. Of course I will give AIR3 a try soon to hear what it sounds like. When I read on the other hand, what makes an Aurender more attractive comparing it with a PC or a Mac concerning sound optmization, I really doubt, that AIR3 is the solution for all the negativ effects a PC/Mac connected by e.g. USB might have on the sound.

If it should be, I would be happy, of course!

The usibility of an Aurender is one more thing.
Maybe Devialet´s awaited internal streaming section might solve ANY(!) problem, so that it becomes panacea with it.

Hard time to decide whether to go with an Aurender or just wait another wile...
Well, it was good while it lasted.Oddly not Devialet's fault. There is an update to iTunes (12.04.0.119) today which causes Audirvana+ to crash at the end of each song, requiring a restart each time.

Having seen comments re Amarra on another thread, I was having a quick look at their website, and quite by coincidence spotted this:

iTunes 12.4 Update Issues:
After updating to iTunes 12.4, users have experienced no sound output when using Amarra Hifi, Amarra or Amarra Symphony with iTunes. Please note that Amarra Playlist mode works fine.
We have verified this issue
- We recommend not updating to iTunes 12.4 at this time
- If you already have updated to iTunes 12.4, we expect to have a fix in place for Amarra and Amarra Symphony shortly.
- We are investigating a fix for Amarra Hifi and hope to have more information shortly.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience and we appreciate your continued support.
Don't know why I chose to try once again this @$#... It is worse than before... Before, I had problems with files of different bitrates using Air, Wifi or Ethernet. That's why I choose to use USB, with absolutely no problem at all.

But now, no sound at all !

I can see the Dev in the AIR config. When I chose it, the icon is Black. If I change the volume with the remote of the Dev, I can even see the volume changing in the AIR config menu.

But when I start to play music (Itunes, or Audirvana), no sound at all, and the icon turns to grey after few seconds...

Have you selected Devialet Air as output in Sound under System preferences?

Thanks for your advice. Actually in a first attempt, I didn't  (with the previous version, I didn't have to do this). Then I tried with both the AIR icon and the MAC sound preferences... No sound...

I still don't know why I try this Huh  because USB work so fine...
I've got a strange experience with air3. I installed it for a few days now and the sound is awesome for 16/44 files. But while I played files with other "clock" like 24/96 there's some "creaks" that let me think about buffer issues.
Unfortunatly I try to play with air buffer and roon resync delay.
I then realize that my macbook was connected to my network by ethernet and wifi (dev is connected in ethernet to my router) Disable wifi on the mac removes these "creaks"
There's certainly an other way to resolve that like assign priorities to the mac network interfaces but I don't know how to do that.
It's been a few days that i thought air is'nt working. In fact not it was just my own settings.
For the little that I could hear, air 3 seems to be a very good thing !
