If this is the best that the arrogant ****heads can come up with in 2 years then there is no hope. They have clearly not invested one iota of effort in making sure that this plays nicely with Roon, with the result that it keeps hanging my Mac to the point of requiring a hard reset. I can't even comment on SQ - the bloody thing wouldn't play long enough for me to go downstairs and sit in front of my speakers. Utterly, utterly pathetic. Devialet can go to hell, and soon.

Why should they not?  It has been requested by any number of people from this forum and elsewhere. Even if they arrogantly choose not to become "Roon Ready" their virtual sound card should be stable enough not to crash the OS at the slightest provocation. They have had long enough to get it right by now.

Clearly you're pissed, but I also don't see why they would put effort into integrating one out of many music/ file managers. Some want it, plenty of others don't. Roon hasn't even been in existence for two years, so bitching about lack of extensive testing is not very logical. There are plenty of positive comments on this forum, so they clearly have put a good deal of time into this release. What about all the other music file players? Roon might not even be in existence in in 6 months. Tidal nearly went tits-up and there has been a great demand for native Tidal integration on plenty of hardware products.

Sonos can't make their products consistently reliable (in my system) and they've been at it for longer than Devialet has been a company. I've wasted hours on Sonos; far more time than I've ever had to spend getting the Devialet to work.  AIR3 and Roon don't play nicely in your system, but the fault could be with Roon, or with some other part of your system. There are hardly two identical systems on this forum; its impossible for any company to build something that will work with every possible iteration or combination of hardware and software.

hk630 makes a good point about the sharing of software and code; who knows what they do or don't make available. And finally, it may be that Roon or some other music player will be integrated in the future.

Roon may be at fault here, too. The latest build has been causing unnecessary stoppage while playing. So, we can't solely put the blame on AIR. And, AIR is an unique hifi-grade audio sound card interface which is proprietary to Devialet. And, I don't see any reason why Devialet has to share its patent/technology with others. And, I don't believe Roon will share theirs, too. Like any software, there are numerous ways that can screw up in between. To be fair, a manufacturer can decide what and who to work with. And, we have plenty of hifi choices out there to choose from, if Devialet is no longer meeting our needs and wants.

There is no need for AIR to suit all operating systems of various versions and all different softwares. it just too many different combinations and versions of them in computer world.

This thread opened on 11th May, I tried AIR 3.0 as soon as I could and today is 4th day. After initial hick ups (MacBook sound output setting) it's working perfectly ever since. No issues with Roon-Tidal too. You may want to check settings- Roon, AIR, MacBook, Dev ETH connection, etc. Good luck!

Only issue is I now need to wire(Cat6?) all my wifi boxes so I don't have to get my MacBookAir to my listening room.

Did you try settings that are listed in this thread?
Installed AIR3 and have had some isssues..WIFI is hopeless so am using an Airport Express as an access point.....so in our case, ethernet AIR, into D400. nevertheless our first impressions are very positive... Back and forth between an Aries on EAS and Audirvana (via AIR) on ethernet was, decidedly, biased to AIR3....we bought into this ecosystem fairly recently and never considered AIR but this is interesting. Always assumed leaving a computer out of the system was a great idea but using AIR 3 has made us review this position. Is this the "galvanic" isolation of ethernet at work? ( whateverthatmeans..;-)

Understand Devialet isn't required to get AIR working with Roon, but I can't get AIR3 to work with either Roon or Audirvana + so diminishes my option for using AIR solely down to iTunes.

Yes, Devialet doesn't need to work with other companies software, but if the other companies software (Roon & Audirvana +) are a large % of users then it will hinder acceptance of AIR having been solved
Just as a note to all people attempting to use AIR with Wi-Fi only, I am in the IT trade, been supporting many individuals and companies for 18 years now and we will never use Wi-Fi for any critical network connection for a business. There are no Wi-Fi systems we have found that are 100% reliable and range is so building dependant that it is at best a game of Russian roulette. If a client loses a file it is a little more than an annoying noise.

The only good Wi-Fi connector is a length of Cat 5/6/7 or a mains networking link (and these can be dodgy as well).
I have D-Premiers so don't have the option of using Ethernet only Wi-Fi.

I have CAT6 wiring throughout my house, including my Mac Mini where my music is stored. I have a Ruckus R600 Wi-Fi Access Point so not just your run of the mill cheap Wi-Fi, but up to small business standard. Is it as good as hardwired Ethernet - No, but it is a robust Wi-Fi.

I did Smilefollowed your tips, been using imac-roon- air -ethernet to Devialet now since day one of this upgrade.
Only one restart when configureated Roon first time, working perferkt since then, and my dev is running 24/7 .
Its working 100% , no drops or whatever so far, only downside is that my transporter now is unused ,and new streamer is out of my plansSmile also this Ur thing seems not to be not needed Smile
Have been testing for a few hours with latest
- I like the sound
- confirm the issue when changing sampling rate,
- over ethernet had 2 short drop outs of about 5 sec in a 3 hours session with only 96 and 192 Apple loss compressed

Cheers,
Bernard
