Relistid my Tidal account and that also is a dream to work with via the ipad. And in combination with the incredible Devialet 200 the audio heaven is back!

I suppose you mean S10?

Sorry, so caught in the music and typing is not easy, S10 for sure?

No worries Smile

So which output you use to connect your S10 to Devialet? And have you done any comparison between the different outputs?

I note that the S10 has AES/EBU output. Now I know that this is a bit of a personal bias for me, but I'm not keen on USB connections. However, I know that very many people have achieved very good results via USB, but I do wonder that with something like the S10, how does the USB output compare to AES/EBU?

Exact same question on my mind

I have had several contacts with Aurender's staff before I decided going for the S10 instead of the newer models via usb. They explicite made clear that if You have a aes/xlr 110 ohm connection on Your gear always use it, its the best they say. They advised to buy a new model X when I was going to use the usb connection, that one is better compared to the usb from the S10, Also the people from Devialet share the same opinion regarding the input of the 200.
In several tests I read the same conclusion, XLR on the S10 gives a overall better sound compared to the usb route off the new X models. I had the oppertunity of hearing them all, except the w20, but thats a different price tag, and also the overall feel of the S10 is a much more one of a high end gear. The solid construction, shielded intern compartiments and the better powersection Are also not to be underestimated.
Compared to everything I have had playing connected to the 200 the sound of the S10 is overal very much more musical sounding. More real, closer to the music, with a solid base, wider stage and a depth in it like there are no cencreet walls in my house!
Going to try some different cables for the AES and wil report back on that.

Thanks for the feedback. But to make sure I understood you right, you felt the is no need to try the USB on your S10 and accordingly you never tired it?

This is interesting. If this is what Devialet think too then this could rule out a lot of streamer options. The N100 I think only has USB connection for example.
Comments on the Conductor app.

While I generally like the Conductor app, I do have reservations about the browsing options provided, which I don't find well suited to classical music libraries. I am accustomed to using UPnP servers like the excellent Minimserver and like to access my music via Genre->Composer->Album or maybe Genre->Composer->Artist. These options are not provided in the Conductor app. Alas, many of the sorting options offered are of no interest, and where I do want sorting options, they are not provided. In particular:

I fancy playing a piano concerto and so I select the genre Concerto-Piano

This displays all the piano concerto album covers sorted by album title (no option provided to sort in any other order). Unfortunately, this only displays the first 20 characters or so of the album names, which is often not enough to identify the album - e.g. Beethoven: Piano Con, So not possible to identify the 3rd piano concerto, say.

So switch to the alternate album title view. You then get a list of albums, not in full alphabetical order, and expanded with all the track contents. So it is extremely laborious to find the album by scrolling down a possibly very long list.

Fortunately, I decided to organize the files on disc in folders that reflect the way I generally want to search (genre/composer/album) and the album titles include composer and artist - e.g. Beethoven: Pno Cto 3 [Sudbin]. So I can fall back on a folder search when necessary, but really that shouldn't be necessary.

I have fed back these comments to Aurender support and received prompt replies. Some suggestions to work around these problems were made (e.g. searching with keywords), otherwise my comments have been added to their wish list.

Yes, genres are not implemented well. My classical music has the "Classical" ID-tag, but I still can't select that genre. I thinks it's a small problem, since I don't really use genres, but I still hope they'll add proper genre support to the Conductor app.
