1. When the music library is first loaded into the N100H internal HDD storage (or when new music is added), one has to connect the N100H plus a Mac to the same network and run AMM to enable the metadata and album art to be available on the Conductor app, right?

2. Once the scan has been done, assuming all music is stored in the internal drive, can the N100H be used as a standalone unit like the X100 series? Or, does a Mac running AMM have to be connected to the same network as the N100H in order to access the metadata and album art?

3. If it can be used as a standalone unit, shouldn't the N100H sound better (and be a better option) than the X100, if one has less than 2TB of music, in view of the LPS used in the N100H? Or does the X100 have other tricks up its proverbial sleeve?

Thanks.

AMM simply creates a database with info where your music files are found and with what metadata. Once this database is created you only haven to update it with AMM after you added new music on you NAS. You don't have to have a mac with AMM running all the time. AMM scans the sources you select, which can include shares on your NAS and a connected USB Drive. The internal drive can be scanned within the Conductor app.
Thanks. With the N100 (no internal storage), I understand that the AMM database is stored in NAS.

With the N100H, assuming the music library is stored entirely in the internal 2TB HDD, will the AMM database still be created and stored in the NAS? Or can it be configured to store the AMM database in the internal drive?

If the entire music library can be stored in the N100H internal drive, it does not make sense to have to have it connected to a NAS simply to access the AMM database.
The N100 still has the SSD. AMM uploads the database to the SSD.
1. To my knowledge AMM is only for external disks.
2. Yes the N200H can be used as a standalone unit.
3. Since it is a new unit, it just may sound better. Sounds like a shoot out is in order. :-)

You may be right on 1, even if some dealers are still confused about it, saying that the N100H has to be connected to a network with AMM running on a Mac.

Found the extract below on the net, which appears to be from a newsletter to dealers. It appears to suggest that the N100H can be used like an X100L, without AMM.  Further, the recommendation appears to be N100H first, for those who do not need more than a 2TB music library, with the X100L recommended for those who require more storage.  Looks like Aurender may be tacitly relegating the N100 to the back catalogue...

N100H

We are pleased to announce another new model, the N100H. Based on the N100, the N100H features a 2.5 inch 2TB HDD that’s factory installed.

We are offering this derivative model for two reasons. Firstly, we realized the limitations of offering a model that requires external storage exclusively and AMM for proper file tagging. Secondly, Aurender's entire model range offers internal storage, therefore by adding storage to the N100, we bring consistency to the Aurender product line. Of course we will still offer the N100 as a model for those IT savvy dealers and endusers who are proficient at using network attached storage devices and AMM.

Since the Aurender interface requirement for external USB or NAS is different from other music servers on the market, the learning curve is a bit steeper with this model. Consequently, we would strongly encourage our dealers and distributors to lead with the N100H and reserve the N100 for only those users qualified and knowledgeable in IT matters and who are willing and able to use AMM. We’ve priced N100H to be highly competitive and an extremely good value. And should the customer require more storage, an option would be stepping into an X100L. The N100H will begin shipping midMay.
I really don't understand one thing, how in such good product the controlling app is so outdated ?
iOS 6 interface with no background multitasking functionality! Not acceptable I think.
I hope they working on some good update for the app.

What have you tried that doesn't work? Are you using iOS 7 or iOS 8.

Everything works like a charm except MULTITASKING ! Every time I exit the app and get back I need to start filtering/searching where I was from scratch.

As well I want to enjoy fresh and beautiful iOS 8 UI instead of outdated iOS 6 design.
