I don't have Sublime subscription either Wink I was just interested in what the technical possibilities now are with Aurender/Qobuz.

I would have bought an Aurender last summer if they had supported Qobuz - I guess I will have a borrow one and try it again probably in comparison against a Melco.

Hi PhilP,

I heard recently that Melco are working on native Qobuz integration. I believe it will feature in the new iOS app which is due out shortly.

@ Guillaume, a belated thanks for the info. for some reason I missed your post.  If the Melco app is 100% robust and handles 24-bit streaming then it may be exactly what I'm looking for.  It's a shame that they persist with the over-the-top pricing for the N1Z.  I've lusted after one ever since you reviewed it but I can't bring myself to pay so much for a device that should retail at around half the price.  That said the N1Z is cheaper than my previous Naim NDX/XPS2 which now retails at £7,040 and doesn't have any internal disk drives.

Hi PhilP, how about trying the new N1Z model with the spinning disks? I should think the sound will new pretty spectacular.

I still think the N1A is a steal in terms of what you are getting for the money.

Perhaps you changed something in the signal path or reverted your Devialet to a pre DSD configuration. Also check that the SD card is installed before powering up the Devialet.

I've got about 40 DSD filer (DSD64) and I have played them several times but after the Aurender software upgrade I just got a tone in the speakers.

I think you answered your own question there. Have you contacted Aurender support?

According to Melco's site the new N1ZH60 is actually, despite the name, based on the N1A not the N1Z... I will ask my local dealer whether he can get one on demo.

http://www.melco-audio.com/products/

I wish the external appearance was a bit more attractive - it looks like a cheap 80's box and not exactly a good stylistic partner for a Devialet. I've happily done anyway with my hifi rack and would have to find somewhere to hide the Melco Wink
Melco's website is written very badly and is rather misleading! The N1ZH is an N1Z without the "audiophile grade" SSD's. If you read closely you will see that the new N1ZS is also a "performance enhancement of the award winning N1A". In fact they are all a "performance enhancement of the award winning N1A", except the N1A, which is simply the "award winning N1A".

Comparing the N1ZS and N1H specs I think you're correct in which case Melco are charging £3,000 more for 2x512TB SSD drives than 2x3TB HDD...  I know the SSDs are said to be 'audio grade' whatever that means and they have 'stable data' (don't their hard drives have stable data too?) but £3,000 ?

I will try to borrow an N1ZH and see how it sounds in my system.

I went back and skimmed through this thread on Linn Forum which is worth a look for anyone considering Melco:

That was kind of my thought, and the Aurenders looks much nicer IMO (although quite a bit more expensive than the N1A). Put the Melco in a much nicer, and smaller box (without the drives), and make it RoonReady, and I'd probably have one in my lounge now if its on par with the SQ of the N1A (never heard one but there are too many good reviews here and elsewhere to assume it sounds anything other than good).

Yes, looking at the photo of the inside of the N1A that Mike Spragg posted there's plenty of empty space and if the HDDs were taken out it could all fit into, as you say, a much nicer and smaller box.  I  wish they. would do that - these full width boxes are so last decade  Tongue
Oops, I'm in the wrong thread. Here I was hoping to find some new Aurender posts and all I keep finding is melco, roon, melco, roon......?
