You have asked a question that so many have asked before about audio transports (disk and/or servers). When I had my Ressonessence DAC I auditioned both the S10 and X100. The S10 was the better sounding when I used its balanced output. The X100 sounded better through the USB because its USB circuit came from the W20. I bought the X100 because the S10 cost more than I could afford. But the transport is IMHO very important.

I'm relatively young audiophile and I don't have life time of experience yet, every day I discover something new that changes my view on things,
My latest personal discovery was regarding how good and I mean a good DAC can impact SQ , so based on your input I can conclude one thing, only AFTER you got not a decent but a good DAC, only then you should consider expensive transport for music, meanwhile invest in best DAC you can possibly afford.
People who did it vise versa ,( my self include) simply don't really understood the mistake they done, spending money in wrong device in the time chain of upgrades to perfect setup.

You can't really state that the DAC of the Linn is better than that of the Devialet as when you connect the Linn to the Devialet the Devialet internal DAC is also used. It's used for both digital and analog inputs. When you use the analog output of the Linn you even use the ADC of the Devialet as well.
Or did you compare both connecting the pre-out of the Devialet and the analog out of the Linn into a power amplifier?

It's my subjective opinion based only on my setup.
I don't think you understand what I'm saying amd/or how the Devialet works internally.
Did you connect the Linn to the Devialet? If so you're also listening to the Devialet DAC as it is -always- in the chain. If you used the analog output of the Linn you're also using the internal ADC of the Devialet (so ADC+DAC both).
So how do you think can you judge the DAC quality of the Linn to be better when you're using the DAC of the Devialet at the same time?
So the chain is something like this: source file/NAS/computer - ethernet - Linn DAC - analog interlink - Devialet ADC - Devialet DSP - Devialet DAC - Devialet amplification - loudspeaker cables - loudspeakers.
