Harris4crna. Accuphase A-70 class a amp and C-3850 preamp. Franco Serblin Ktema speakers. VPI Classic 1 TT with Simaudio 810LP phono stage and VPI SDS. Transparent Reference Speaker cable and IC. Quadraspire racks and much more.
Here too, definitely nicer than kinsky.
It's a big improvement ..........but mine keeps losing my Devialet at times
Can anyone tell me why the device is called Dela in Japan and Melco everywhere else? I know the parent company is Buffalo. I also know the history of Melco in Japan, but where does Dela come from?

Dela and melco are the same thing. Dela is the label used in Japan and melco everywhere else. Was talking to a hi fi shop in HK. They were looking into importing dela. But buffalo said they have to talk to melco in UK.

My guess. Manufacturers rebrand same product for different geographical markets. Raleigh Bicycles (UK) did this back in the day and rebranded Raleigh's were basically the same models with different labeling (and perhaps a change in appearance in the crankset or fork). No idea what 'Dela' signifies? Maybe an acronym, perhaps something symbolic to the Japanese market? Sometimes marketing departments come up with names so inappropriate to a product one wonders how they have their jobs. Whoever in Ford Motor Company decided to give their American car model the name 'Probe' (and who OK'ed it) must have slept through their college marketing classes.
Next time I head to a hifi shop here in Tokyo I will ask, but after more thought I believe this may influence the decision to call the device Dela versus Melco in Japan.

Melco is a Japanese company producing hifi equipment in the 70's. During the computer age they transitioned and became buffalo. Perhaps in japan they do not want to call a piece of hifi equipment Melco to be confused with the equipment made in the 70's.

In Japan there seems to be other companys that looks very much like Melco inside but a little bit better to me.

Interesting, price is somewhere between the 2 Melco models, can't see if the USB can be used with a DAC or not though, if not then it isn't much use with a Devialet.

As good as a guess as mine. In marketing to English speaking countries however, they definitely like to emphasis their past Hi-Fi roots in quality turntables and given turntables/vinyl have made something of a comeback that's not an unwise marketing choice. Note from recent CES show: Sony will be retailing a turntable with built-in software so user can copy their vinyl LP's directly to their computer. No need for third party devices between your computer and turntable. If sales are good likely other turntable manufacturers will follow Sony's lead.
