So James, you prefer the Melco to your Mac Mini or did I miss a change to your system in between those two? Was the Mini spinning drives or all SSD? Was the music library internal or external? Were you using a bit-perfect player on the Mini or just iTunes? I'd like to know the details of your Mini and the improvements you heard through the Melco. Thanks.
Hi Deviousalet - My Mini dates back from 2009 but has been used for various things with Weiss DACs over Firewire, as a UPnP source for Linn and Naim streamers and then eventually back to a USB source for the Devialet. It was reasonably maxed out, all services disabled, max ram, SSD and after various music players over the years, i'd settled on Audivarna. Adding a Regen was the icing on the cake. Improvements with the Melco - well i'm quite surprised how good this is. Music really flows and rather like the Devialet itself, it doesn't impose it's own character on the music. The biggest change is the bass which seems more extended and tighter. The only downside so far is the control point (i'm using Kinsky which takes me back to my Linn days) so hopefully something better will come along from Melco. I had a couple of questions on operation and Melco (Alan Ainslie) was very quick to respond.
I'm really liking the Arcam app. This was a tough choice since me and Arcam passed are ways back in the day when I purchased a surround receiver from them and it sucked. The app is great, no issues.

Hi all, just joined today, if this is an old thread thats been explained I apologise for repeating it, in the process of buying a Melco N1A and just wondering how is the best way to get Tidal to play on it as it only looks to be through an Android tablet and BubbleUPNP, is this the way to go ? I dont want to use my Mac if possible or could I stream Tidal straight to my Devialet ? Whatever is the best for sound quality and hopefully the less dropping out of the wifi signal the better. If anyone could help explain how to set the Tablet up so that it plays through the Melco that would be appreciated as well. Also which app is better Kinsky or the Arcam used Kinsky for a while after having a Linn Sneaky but see some people prefer the Arcam app ?

RoonReady was on the cards last time I asked them (Melco), no timescales….

What speakers are you using with the N1A James? Using Devialet's SAM? If so, at what setting? Started my digital file player journey with DIY build I discovered on computeraudiophile.com. Agree want of dedicated UPNP Melco control app main downside with N1A. Plenty on computeraudiophile.com bemoan the cost of most manufacturers' digital players, though I chuckle thinking just how much money many of them spend building and tweaking DIY kit. Miss my old Squeezebox Touch as the SQ listening to Swiss classical stations was pretty darn good, and at such an affordable price. Love to have my N1A file play + Squeezebox Touch (sound at price) as my digital tuner. People can praise Roon/Tidal till the cows come home, but I'm one who still enjoys good radio streaming.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I see we have a very similar set up. In my opinion the Arcam app is much better than the Kinsky app, although it does sometimes take a restart of the I Pad to get it started.
Kinsky always ran smoothly for me , but was very basic.
Try them both and see which one you prefer, but dont forget you will have to change the mode to do so.

(18-Jan-2016, 22:01)shaned72 Is that changing the Mode on the Melco to 0 ? Do you happen to use Tidal btw I\ve read some reports it will only work with an Android tablet and you need to use BubbleUPNP to work it ? Wrote: [ -> ]

Yes it does mean changing it to mode 0.
I don't use Tidal at all and I think you are right, if you use an android device there is a way you can use tidal.
I seem to recall there is some guidance on the Melco website
