Yeah I have had no issues until I turned the display on. Then after that almost every track drops out. When I first got the Melco I used to have the display on and there was no issues.

Sorry, stupidly worded, I meant when the display is on. Been playing music all evening with it on.
Sounds like something could be wrong with yours.

Maybe it's time to really consider the Aurender

I can understand that.
I also once thought about getting something else, I especially looked at the Antipodes server since they have really good reviews e.g. from DAR but they are quite pricey and really hard to get here in the EU.
But since it's working quite fine for me with the BubbleUpnp app and I'm ok with local and Tidal streaming (without Roon for now), I decided to stay with the Melco for now. And who knows what the new mysterious streaming board will bring, then you really might need the Melco only as NAS from there on, or maybe not...  Wink

You make a good point, but I won't get the streaming board as I won't be upgrading. At the time if purchase I was told the app was imminent , that's what's annoying. So after a full year maybe it's time to look at the Aurender. The Melco is a great piece if kit and good value , but it's pretty ugly IMO , and the lack of app is Noe starting to wear me out :-)
I have considered buying an android device for bubble upnp but not sure how much better it is than the Lumin app I am currently using

Yes, the thing with the proclaimed app really is annoying. But at least I can assure you, that it's really working fine and without any serious complaints with the BubbleUpnp app.
Ok I may have to buy a cheap android tablet to get bubble app. Problem is I am an apple man and would not know where to start with it , and it would also have to be cheap as it would only be used for thie Melco

I have a few things to consider right now as I am having trouble with some tagging issues, i strategy a thread last week about this and still have not had time to look at minisever and other suggestions.

How I miss simple HiFi -)

Some of the new chinese brands like Huawei have a good value for money (and their UI tries to look a bit like iOS), maybe you can get a cheap Mediapad M1 or T1 without LTE or something like that on ebay?
Yes, these cumbersome tagging issues...

I needed a phone and chose a cheap Android based version. I have the BubbleUPNP app and find it convenient to use the phone over the IPad, simply due to its size and weight. However, I still prefer to listen to albums in their entirety and it is fine for this. IMO, it isn't a patch on the Lumin app and certainly not worth buying a phone before you have tried it.

Thank you for the reply. This is what I fear, and you have probably just stopped me wasting some cash. if its nowhere near as good as the Lumin app, then I will hold tight once again.
Great post thank you.

Back to the Melco app, or lack of it...

Has anyone managed to find out why it has never appeared, and is it still planned?

Maybe someone from Melco could update us?

Have tried a number of apps and they are full of bugs, or hard to navigate...

Getting tired of Melco now....

Have you guys tried emailing Melco uk / Alan Ainslie? When I asked a few questions about Melco a long while back he was pretty helpful and upfront.

In the end I decided against it as for me it was about Roon, and I'm glad I didn't as that seems about as close as this fabled App.
