1. Compared Melco N1A and N1ZH, is there any SQ reason to buy the more expensive model?

2. Compared Melco performance via USB vs Ethernet connection on Devialet?

1. Almost certainly, yes.  If you read this thread from the beginning there is a comparison of the sound quality difference between the N1A and the N1Z, and the N1Z come out on top, as you might expect.  I had a very quick listen to the N1Z vs the N1ZH.  To be clear, this was a one track back to back test so hardly definitive, but the conclusion was that the N1ZH was marginally better, by an absolute fraction, maybe.  They were certainly close!  So I am guessing the difference to the N1A will remain similar.  For a more definitive answer to that written on this forum, I think you would need to listen for yourself.

2. I do not think it is possible to run a Melco direct via Ethernet.  To do this you would need to load the AIR software onto the Melco, and AIR is only available as Mac and Windows software.

Thanks Confused,

I've heard from my Melco dealer that N1Z is significantly better than both N1A and N1ZH. Tested in two hiend systems based on MSB digital front-end and Vivid Giya G3.

Also checked, Melco definitely has possibility to play music on Dev through LAN port. This connection "should" sound the best, said the dealer Smile

I just wanted to hear from other Melco users, since I'm targeting N1ZH, N1Z is out of my budget.

Again, Melco was revelation for me, just if it had better functionality app. Ripping CDs with new firmware (through usb CD/DVD drive) is also great thing.

Interesting...does that mean the Melco has AIR running on it? Or some other method for streaming to the Devialet via Ethernet?
I think what he means is, running AIR on a MAC or PC and using the Melco as switch. This should work, haven't tried it though.
No AIR or any computer in this setup.. Just source file going directly from Melco through LAN output to Devialet DAC, I suppose.

Not possible, AIR is required. He must mean USB.

Dealers...sigh...you do know why they're dealers right? Big Grin
Now I'm really confused Sad

The Melco doesn't have AIR running on it. I so wish Devialet would allow it to be ported to the Melco... My life would be complete.
The Melco acts as a network bridge between the Devialet and the rest of the network so AIR runs on a computer on the LAN port side of the Melco and sends through the Melco to the Devialet. I believe there's some packet filtering on the Melco to filter out unnecessary network traffic getting to the device on the Player network port (possibly using iptables or the like).

He may have had the new Pro models in mind which'll get a new streamerboard in 2017 that'll support uPNP. For the current models it's like Rufus and others have mentioned already.
I have just replaced my AudioAanZee streamer with a Melco N1A, first used the Linn Kinsky app but got a bit frustrated with it (especially compared with the Aurender app in my other system)

Today I am trying the Audionet app, first impression quite good, but when I load a playlist, all the tracks appear twice in the playlist, am I doing something wrong ? any help is appreciated.
Think I found the problem, to try I moved some of my music files to the Melco the first evening, after that I copied my full library to the Melco, so I got some duplicate files, will remove thaem now and try again
