I do love my Melco dont get me wrong but I would not be getting too excited in waiting for ROON with it. The products were launched about 12 months ago I think, and they still have not developed an app of their own. I do find this a little disappointing, especially when posts above say it could be another couple of months away.
The software side of audio is often a bit hit and miss - and some brands probably just don't really have the right attitude towards it or staff in-house, or even realise how important it is. I guess historic devices like CD players etc were just sold standalone, so any companies from that era may be pretty slow getting to grips with it, but even pioneering companies like Devialet don't seem to be all over it.

Then you look at small companies like Sonore, and Auralic, and they can get a RoonReady type solution out there within a month or two of getting the first release of code. With the right people and attitude it's not rocket science.

It's a shame Melco are dragging on their own control ap (is this official and definitely coming out - I haven't seen much chat about it elsewhere), but meantime they could easily get RoonReady in there to give their users a better front end if they wanted it. Or maybe they don't want Roon to outdo their first effort, so are holding it back?
Communication is the key ??
I would like some clarification. I guess after my AIR hassles with Devialet and 9 months of frustration I just hope Melco have an app in development. My gut feeling is they have, but it is just a gut feeling.

Like I say I am not unhappy with it as it has excellent sound quality IMO . But yes I am now looking at maybe trying out a streaming solution or even just internet radio. At present this is not an option with Apple devices.
If you fancy Internet Radio - how about this? - https://gramofon.com/

I am currently using a Sonos Box for internet radio alone, and this €59 device would free it up for use in another room.

That's another box though :-)
When I got my 200 a year ago the intention was a one box solution. I them discovered that headphones still needed a dedicated amp. Then well AIR :-) so eventually bit the bullet and got the Melco. So now my one box solution is 3 -)

At the time of purchasing the Melco I did not think the radio option was that critical, but yes I do miss it.
Mind you the set up I have now is the best I have ever had so still very pleased
I will wait for the update from Melco , or the app that makes it possible. Would just be good to get some feedback on the timescales
Another great review of the Melco NIA in the March edition of Stereophile.

Do you use iOS or Android app? If you have Android and use Bubble upnp app they have a solution to get internetradio via XiiaLive app. I use that with a chromecast audio to get radio to my Devialet.

I use IOS I am afread hence the frustration . I used AIR last night to listen to some radio , but it's a bit of hassle. Maybe the new Melco app will incorporate radio listening
Melco/NA1 reviewed by Stereophile March 2016 issue. States the Melco is the champ of the streamers. Thoughts?

Interesting - i'll have to have a look to see if my issue has downloaded and have a read. Still mightily impressed with the Melco.

Intrigued by SQ gains via USB with the Melco, i've got an Intona USB isolator on trial next week. I have a feeling that it won't be an improvement over my present setup, but then i thought that with the Mac and Melco  Big Grin
