And the designer's signature on it plus measurement report of the person who tested it! Big Grin

Now now, don't knock it until you hear it! It's at least a 15-20% improvement over the 800.... in my setup of course.  Wink

If they trickle down some of this stuff it will be fantastic for all Expert owners.

And more improvement coming
I'm struggling to think what makes sense of all the speculation (and negativity), but i hope the immediate future for expert owners will be
1. Working AIR (AIR3?)
2. Built-in network streamer - configurator to configure access to network & find NAS/HDD/music?? But this will require app/software to find/play network files which devialet doesn't seem able to get right...god help us all
3. Full AIR on mobile i.e. stream from mobile phone to Devialet not only from AIR app but via any music output source - just like AIR on mac would(should)
4. Spotify connect of sorts
If the above 4 emcompasses the "upgrade" of eur$1k board, i'd say shuddup and take my money.
If it's just eur$1k, I will be a very happy man. But, I think it will be more than that.
If more than 1k, I would go with outboard, unless spark proves to be that great. I have played around a number of apps (end-points, not including spark and room), I think auralic is not bad. That's my baseline.
My view on this is that Devialet are highly unlikely to just change the DUET card/network board. Much more likely is a comprehensive upgrade to Mk2 with new class D board, PEM etc. In that scenario we are looking at more like 3.5k euros.

I don't have any privileged information on the subject by the way.

I hope they'll do it in parts if there is an upgrade plan - i.e. streaming board and/or the other hardware updates.

If they announced the streaming board would enable other options like Roon Ready (and they were committed to integrating it) then I'd be interested because I know that the Roon Ready program is quite strict and therefore it wouldn't get released unless it worked well Wink I wouldn't rush in now as have other options, but I'd definitely be thinking about it - and I could justify a cost as the original D200 I bought never said it would include Roon integration so I'd essentially be paying for that. If they follow the model of most other brands at the moment, I assume they would offer their own branded playback system for free (which I guess would be Spark) and try and sucker people into a 'Devialet ecosystem', but then add in the ability to use whatever the user base cries out most for - be that UPnP or Roon or whatever of the other ones out there get requested.

I wouldn't be interested in €3-4K's worth hardware upgrades for the other stuff though, so if it was 'all or nothing' it would definitely be nothing for me...

Why not?

Guillaume
My information was, that the Devialets will be upgraded in two steps.
Maybe two expension stages were meant?!

For example a change of the network board only on the one hand and a fully class D board upgrade on the other?!

So two return trips to Paris or the local Devialet distributor? That sounds efficient (not!).

I can't imagine there is much margin in this kind of upgrade and it is fairly resource intensive on the part of the person carrying out the upgrade.

I just don't have the brand loyalty if I'm honest.
