Will be very interested to hear this, especially compared to 440 pro, the 2 obvious upgrade options for a 250 owner seem to be to upgrade to a 250 pro or sell it and buy the 440 pro. 250 pro is cheaper but I do feel neglected as a 250 owner, Devialet really don't seem interested in this model anymore so worry about the longer term support (upgrades rather than repair, etc.). They have no real reason to increase power or features as they don't actively try to sell it anymore. Moving to 440 would mean it was an actively supported model.

Of course, the 250 still sounds great so a pro upgrade is till of interest.

Good that the new 130, 220 and 440 are coming out for those wanting these models (what about the single 250 Pro?).

Still seems silly that Devialet are going to kick off the Upgrade for existing Models start of September when there aren't any around for people to listen to.

Did Devialet say the start of September?  It strikes me that it's now August 26th, and as far as I am aware Devialet have not sent out any 'invites' to book and pay for an upgrade yet?  For sure, I have not received anything.  I have to say the September to December upgrade window Devialet have advised does look a little optimistic, that is I am not at all confident that all upgrades will be done by January 1st.  Time will tell!

I was previously advised by Devialet support that September to December was the upgrade window Huh

Now, did I believe it would happen then - no, but it was confirmed in a reply to my support request (which doesn't mean anything Big Grin )

I recall the D250 being discussed at the 1000 Pro launch event.  It was made clear that the 250 does continue a discrete model in the form of the 250 Pro.  Having listened to the 1000 Pro I do wonder just how good the 250 Pro might be?  Better than a D800?  I think this is likely.  I really enjoyed my 250 with the Blades prior to getting a companion, I think the 250 Pro for those who like the 'one box' simplicity would make a really compelling option.  So why does the 250 look a bit 'lost' on Devialet's website?  probably because the 440 Pro will be better for the money.  I happen to think this is a mistake on Devialet's part, after all, the 250 does act as a 'stepping stone' to a 1000 for those who want to upgrade progressively.
The one box simplicity is what attracted me to Devialet in the first place so I'm interested to hear how the 220Pro or 250Pro stack up against the dual mono versions. I'm still a bit sceptical they'd be able to compete though, what with not having the large power advantage given by bridged mode, plus advantages with electrical isolation. A nice compromise in future, if Devialet could shrink the components somewhat, would be a dual mono in a single box.

Same here. I know that  mono amps deliver better sound, but I simply love the one box concept. If the 250Pro sounds about as good as the 800 (as suggested by Confused) I may go for the upgrade. Especially if they get the USB input right or port AIR to Linux. A single box dual mono Devialet would be a dream come true!!

Customer service got back to me last week that the program will start on September 1 and it will include Canada so I assume that it will international.  One would think that they would post something out as to next steps but I would be wrong.
As soon as they update the configurator to include the 250pro, I'll be trying out the master from our 1000pro. Bizarrely, without a config card it still shows as being a 1000pro and not defaulting to 250... maybe it can't be used as a stereo amplifier?

In regards to Confused's point, it's a shame the 250 isn't pushed by Devialet harder. It's such a brilliant amplifier and so many of our 250 owners ended up as 500/800 owners. I doubt that many of them would have gone all in on the dual mono off the bat!

Alasdair
Alasdair,

I had a little play with the configurator and this might be a solution:

Start with a 1000 Pro config. Then remove the companion. It took me a few clicks before that worked. Then you can add the other speaker outputs by going to stereo and it reverts back to 250Watt and Left/Right channels automatically. Done  Tongue

Edit: The configurator still calls it 1000 so that might explain what you're seeing on the display when you take out the SD card.

Another Edit: I tried to do the same with the O d'A and then the mono/stereo option doesn't come up. My interpretation of that is that the O d'A is only configurable as a dual mono setup and the 1000 Pro configurator is ready to be 'halved' to 250 Pro.
Does that mean, after the upgrade I can pretend my 250 is a 1,000? ?

Sure mate. That's the beauty of pretending. You can pretend whatever you want.  Tongue
