As somebody brought up in the farming community I am MUCH more offended by veal production than that of foie gras.
I would never order veal in a restaurant, though I have eaten it to be polite when served it in a private home.

I look forward to the imminent announcement of new product.

Sounds like something us Expert owners certainly won't be interested in.  My guess is some new fandangled distributed music system based on crappy software and some new lower end hardware.  Existing Expert owners will need an upgraded unit or add on hardware.

No thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Appalling. Fix the goddamned AIR. This brand has become truly embarrassing.
Reading Paul's report makes me real question the direction Devialet is going. I was real impressed with the technical invovations and sound quality when I bought my D-Premier. I already thought that upgrading to D250 was a waste of money and time. Seeing that ostentaious marketing I would never by a product from them now!
And yes they should fix AIR which is more or less a defective product or find a different solution.

Agreed. I don't care how much money they spend on 'marketing' but they won't see another penny from me unless they fix that issue first. And probably not even then, either.
Despite all this , the amps are still marvellous
Pal of mine installed his vivid G1's 2 weeks ago
Trying to get it right with a VAC valve pre , Raven TT , plinius 300 amp. sounded terrible
I live near him , brought my D premier over which promptly blew away all his other stuff.. hes going for a 200 or 400 system.
no valve or cable angst .... and SQ to die for

Still running the G2 on the "low" Dev 120 here... as much as i disagree with how Devialet carries itself, i think i'll still upgrade to 250 or 800. I'm a weak man Smile
They are marvelous amps, but they are not the only marvelous amps. There are some I like even better.

I bet if Eelco Grimm and Bruno Putzey had a dealer's meeting they would discuss 1) music and recording and 2) the technical aspects of the amps in that order. And they would probably eat mussels and fries.

In all seriousness I have no problem with Devialet wanting to become a luxury product (moral considerations of veal and foie gras aside). I just think they should fix Air. It's one of the main reasons I bough the amp.
yes, G2 and 800 is a perfect match. AIR was very reliable for me, maybe 1 white noise per week. But my current setup is much better sounding than AIR, so I'm not missing it. A new AIR implementation must make a big jump in SQ, otherwise I'll stay with my current solution: PC via QED toslink cable to a Mutec MC-3+ USB (Toslink is much better compared to USB with Aqvox cable and Regen and ifi Purifier 2), Oyaide 910 AES/EBU cable into Devialet.
Software is foobar with monkeymote, Sox resampler and Mathaudio Room EQ.
