If no-one was allowed an upgrade and everyone had to sell their old ones and then buy the new Pro models then I could understand this handbags at dawn stuff. I think the fact that you are able to do an upgrade no matter how old or new your Devialet is, is a great idea. Whether you wish to do so or not is a personal decision but to keep saying well mine is 3 months newer than his so mine should be cheaper is unrealistic. Can't think of to many other HiFi companies who would give this opportunity.

No need for tin hat I have a thick skull !!!!

Unfortunately human nature does that:

Why did he get a pay rise, I didn't so he shouldn't

Fully understand people who've paid a lot of money and then feel short changed when someone else gets a better deal. If the 120 owner didn't get any chance for upgrade and the 200's still had the same offer would it seem a bad offer (probably not).

I realise I'm going to get shot down about my D-Premiers and feel free to vent off if it makes you feel better, but is the issue that the 200's are paying to much for the upgrade or is that the 120' are getting a better deal.

Yes, actually it is human nature, well explained by the equity-theory of motivation (cf. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Go8tnl21MU). So I  do understand D200 owners'  complaints, but unfortunately chances are that they will gain nothing but a feeling of "fairness".

Neither in my case.
I don't care if others have better deal. I don't feel well about, because i bought D200 8 weeks ago and now it lost value as it would be 3-4 years old. After 8 weeks.

PS. Even Apple was refunding their customers who bought in last 30(?) days before price dropped out of sky. To each own, Devialet tried remedy it as well, 10% (?) discounts running here and there, rising prisce of Pro units.

Only to pay retail difference of 200 vs 220 pro
I can see your point but where would the cut of point be and then whoever was 1 week older than that cut off point would complain. It is not a very easy thing to sort and whatever way they decided someone will be unhappy.

Agree, it is difficult. The new pro line was announced back in early June - about 7 week ago so I would say this plus another month would be good to go so end April

I disagree. I agree at a workplace people do think as you described but here the fact is that there is a concrete machine with same specs and with same sales price. It is not about we are jealous about 120 owners deal but about paying eur 2k more but getting the same treatment. Even there would be eur 500 difference, we would hv felt better

I think that lowering upgrade price for D200 would have 2 positive outcomes (which allign with my goal of preserving valu:e)
1) price of used units would not drop, because owners would not feel a need to "play" around to lower upgrade cost or abandon Devialet's ship in anger (for whatever reason for the anger is)
2) more D200 owner would make decision to upgrade, thus preventing sale offs and price drop

But honestly, i am engineer, not accountant or marketing guy. I also don't know situation Devialet is in, what are their challenges. I am just trying to express opinion. Other "remedies" could be better or maybe there is no solution to that.

PS.
I am not going to leave Devialet, that's for sure. I am happy with sound and features (let's assume i forgot about AIR issues). Actually i think, keeping D200 as long as possible is good strategy. Long term, it will "even out" rapid value drop. Probably after 5-7 years there will be no difference for me.
Neither, I am not going to upgrade for €3000-3500. I am in urgent need for new speakers, so i rather put that money into growing speaker's budget. I would consider €2000 very attractive and probably would upgrade after positive listening to 220Pro. The €2500 would make me hesitate, this year.
But those are my personal gripes.

Cheers,
Max

Too good to be true. Probably not possible financially.

Edit: But that would be similar to what Apple is doing, sometimes.
