I guess some of it will also boil down to whether two boxes are acceptable.
Personally, I only bought Devialet for a one box solution. I would have considered a 250 at the time but it seemed like a lot more money for not a lot extra - assuming there was no intention to go to an 800 (which there wasn't. Because it's, er, two boxes). One wall mounted looks quite cool, two not so much outside of a demo room imo.

The 250 also gained to least in the upgrades it seems, making it even less appealing against a 220pro. And it hasn't been on their website as a standalone model for ages, although many dealers still list it.
For me, it's not just about SQ or form factor; I feel compelled to upgrade to take advantage of all the developments in the pipeline.

For instance, I've been waiting ages for a new iPhone app, but my suspicion is that this will only materialise when the new Dev OS is released.

Obviously I am hoping for a lift in SQ, but t's the thought of being left behind when the new software/functionality comes along that's concerning me.

Well, yeah, modern consumerism's based on it Cool
But honestly, the new streamer board is most likely to work with older models. They'll say it's not compatible at first, then after some time charge a princely sum, then after a while longer offer it for a modest fee. That's my guess. It's replacing a board that's currently shipped with the new models and the existing range, so it can't be too different in terms of interfacing with the main boards of either. Part of me thinks anyone having logged serious AIR issues over the past year or more, or being able to prove they spent money on workarounds, should be given one complimentary. I'll be suggesting that directly too!

I thought about everything they said about the changes in the pro range. The one that caught my attention was sounding better at lower power levels. I sense a correlation with people listening at lower levels with sensitive speakers (like me) maybe not getting the full benefit if the D. I wonder how much of a difference it will be? Right now I just have to assume it's hype, because I haven't fully mentally adjusted to 'the new Devialet'.
It would make sense for the streamer board to work in older models too, as Devialet could then sell it to those owners unwilling to updates their Devs, and make money! (or maybe they'll hold off on this in the hope that it'll drive people to update their Experts to Pros?).
I'm also wondering how they're going to manage updates to the streamer board though - whether there will be some communication between the board and the firmware on the FPGA (which might require a different architecture to what we have in the current Expert range) or whether the streamer board will be autonomous from the rest of the architecture - for instance its built-in OS self-updating from the internet.

This is why it would have been better to actually get all the pieces ready at once when launching the new model. That way they could have dropped the SD card, and made a nice new system that was modern and user-friendly. They could still do that anyway, but it's pretty messy...
Lay back, wait and see, what it will be all about in 2017.

I will and would not upgrade without knowing how everything works together.
To many neglected promises in the past Undecided
I sent a question to Devialet about the cost of 220 pro companion and in 48 hours, they got me back listing the prices of 220pro master and 440pro but not the price of 220c. They said they hv to check.

Will it be as simple as price difference of 440PRO and 220Master = price of 220companion?

I think it is around there but a little higher. I saw at an UK site, it is 15% off the 220 pro but want to find out. It is really strange that they can not answer this straight away.
Knows anyone the date when will be the product launch in Germany? On German Devialet homepage are only the current models available!

Thanks.
