Have you already sent us an email at customercare@devialet.com ?

I've complained to Devialet Support about the 120/200 upgrade pricing. Maybe others might like to do likewise.

I did as well a few days ago.

As a matter of interest Matt what you think it should be and why?

This isn't a trick question, I'm genuinely interested in understanding your thoughts on this.  Smile

Hi Guillaume,

I don't have a figure in mind, only a vague sense that, assuming both 120 and 200 are upgradable to 220 Pro, the upgrade cost for the 120 and 200 should reflect the fact that 200 owners made a greater original cash investment. Maybe the differential should be somewhere in the region of £500 -- I don't really know.

I also find it odd that the 120 isn't being upgraded to the 130 Pro. Has anyone come up with a rationale for why this is not the case? (Apologies if I've missed something important.)

Matt

P.S. Devialet Support admitted to me that this point has been raised by "many users" (their words).

Thank you very much for this initiative. I am sure you will be very happy when D120 owners now would have to pay € 500 more for their upgrade, and even happier if they were entirely exluded from the 220pro upgrade plan.

I think none of the 200 are owners expecting 120 owners to pay more but we want to pay less as 200 owners. Perhaps if you are not plannig to upgrade your 120 (if u are an owner), I can trade my 200 with your 120 and some cash so it will help me to decrease my upgrade cost so win win for both of us

Hah.. That most likely be outcome.

But seriously, i think the main goal should be to preserve value of investment already made. I mean, new models and upgrade pricing should not result in devaluation of units already in hands of customers.
Other outcomes are secondary in my view. By secondary i mean: getting current customers committed to upgrades, dealers be happy and Devialet getting their share.
I know the task would not be easy, but Devialet should try balance those fairly.

Alienating existing customers will end not only in them leaving ship's board, but also spreading bad mouth around. Most successful companies are those whose existing customers bring the new ones onboard.

Cheers,
Max

+1

And it doesn't feel right that my D200 is worth as much as a D120 on the second hand market. At least for people who want to upgrade to Pro.

I did now as well. Yesterday, I sent them another e-mail (yet no response other than acknowledgement that was sent immediately for a simple question) and now it is less than 24 hours between my two E-mails, the ticket number jumped by 80. It seems we users keep them busy.
I am pretty sure that there will be an increase in the price to 120 owners and not a decrease in price to 200 owners. Very interesting the amount of bickering about prices as most seem to be intent on not upgrading at all.

Unfortunately human nature does that:

Why did he get a pay rise, I didn't so he shouldn't

Fully understand people who've paid a lot of money and then feel short changed when someone else gets a better deal. If the 120 owner didn't get any chance for upgrade and the 200's still had the same offer would it seem a bad offer (probably not).

I realise I'm going to get shot down about my D-Premiers and feel free to vent off if it makes you feel better, but is the issue that the 200's are paying to much for the upgrade or is that the 120' are getting a better deal.
