Would love to upgrade, but the price I've been quoted by the local distributor is way over the top, $22k. Seems crazy as previously quoted $6k only 3 months ago for a single D-Premier to D250 so assuming same going rate approx. $11k for a pair of D-Premiers to D800 (slight saving sending as pair than 2 singles). If the upgrade costs were closer to the previous costing for upgrade to a D800 then I would do my best to scrape the money together, but being nearly double what I was expecting it's a no go for me
Confused previously said it was mentioned to him that upgrade cost for a D800 to 1000 Pro was just less than £5k, so to be quoted equivalent of £13k for pair of D-Premiers to 1000 Pro seems nuts to me
Wikeeboy is going to the 1000 Pro Australian demo event on Wednesday (lucky bugger
) so hopefully he'll get more info on the options then for upgrading.
Waiting to see what the upgrade costings are for UK/Europe to do a comparioson, and then find out if it's Devialet being really cheeky with D-Premier owners for the upgrades or it's the Australian distributor taking to wee wee

That's outrageous! Seems like they're charging you twice. DPrem>800>Pro instead of DPrem>Pro
That's exactly what I said to my dealer, I'm basically being asked to pay for the upgrade twice, i.e. I didn't get the benefits of the D-Premeir > D800 upgrade, but now having to pay for it within the D-Premeir > 1000Pro upgrade - bit cheeky of Devialet if that's the case
I think if anyone had already paid to upgrade their D Premier to D800 and then had to pay for the upgrade to 1000Pro they might think that it was absolutely correct for you to be charged for both upgrades to do the same.
Looking forward to going to the D1000 event this Wednesday. Let me know if there are any particular questions that have not already been covered int he OAC event.

So:
- Someone pays for the D-Premiers > D800 upgrade 2 years ago and therefore get's 2 years of the benefits of having a D800 to listen to.
- Someone else doesn't do the upgrade and therefore get's none of the benefits of the D800, but you think it's fair that they now pay for this upgrade even though they've never had any of it's benefits
For your info I only bought my pair of D-Premiers this January, so if going by Devialet's original window the upgrade option was closed. As such I'm being penalised for the person I bought from not doing the original upgrade from D-Premiers to D800. I wouldn't expect to pay the same as someone who is going from a D800 > 1000Pro, yes an additional premium from D-Premiers > 1000Pro, but not the full charge for both upgrades in one (D-Premiers > D800 > 1000Pro).
By that logic irrespective of anyone doing these upgrades this time around, you had better pay for the upgrade now and get the benefits as if not you will still ultimately be charged next time around (a no win situation for those who don't upgrade, and are going to be penalised in the long run).
That would sound a bit like like sour grapes to me

I still haven't heard anyone rave about the sound quality. Coming from a 400 the difference should be quite large but then again you will be listening in a completely different room to possibly different speakers.
