120 new with 15% discount is about 4250 Euro + upgrade to 200 for 3490 Euro would be the cheapest update getting newest 200 = 7740 Euro correct?

First of all, i would suggest not to make any decisions regarding buying/upgrading until Devialet announces the prices of the new models/upgrades. I think my source is reliable but you never know whether the Devialet team will change their strategy in the end.

Second, if these prices are correct i think you're right. This would be the most cost-effective way to get your model up to le200 specs. However, for me, the lower resale value of an upgraded 120 compared to a new 200 and the hassle of sending it back to France wouldn't justify the (small) price difference.

John

If you have a source for these prices, it seems odd that the 800 and the 400 have different prices as they have exactly the same boards in them, the premium new is for the more expensive case.
What reasons do we have for assuming the hardware upgrades for 200 and 250 models are identical?
With these "educated guess" suggested prices the only ones laughing will be Devialet. Especially when they'll charge us suckers another €1000 or so again later this year or in 2017 for an upgraded streamer board. And €4500 or so for a D250 upgrade would indeed seem logical in this list.

Repeat this recipe every three years and in ten years you'll have the most expensive Devialet amplifier you never would have wanted to own for a total you otherwise would have never spent. Wink
For those amounts of money you should be able to audition it at home first

Totally agree on this....
Would'nt be surprised if the Devialet team choosed to read this forum before to fix their prices.
With the information supplied I'm not spending close to €3500 on this 'upgrade'.

I'm sure they're more interested in what their shareholders, who've invested millions, think than us.
Until I heard of these upgrades, I had been thinking about buying a Companion for my 200 to make it a 400.   I'm kinda glad I hadn't done that (yet) because the cost to upgrade a 400 (once upgrades are released) would be way too pricey for me.

So the question I'll need to ponder... how will an upgraded 200 compare to a non-upgraded 400?    If the 400 would actually be better, I'm betting I can score a used 200 after the upgrade is released at not much more than the upgrade price of a 200.

So many decisions, so little information (so far).   Can't wait to see how this all plays out.
Good thinking, I'm sure 2nd hand prices will take a serious hit after they've announced the new models. It'll be great shopping here: http://www.hifishark.com/search?q=Devialet Wink Selling not so much, especially not if they'll allow their dealers to dump stock and demo's like when the 110/170/240 etc were released.

In the long run it may be best (value wise) to skip one or two upgrade cycles and then upgrade but of course if too many people do that they'll finally enforce their upgrade windows without telling anyone in advance of course. I'm very curious to see if they'll allow the D-Premier to be upgraded.
More than EUR 1.000-1.500 would be absolutely insane.
At least they should release the long awaited firmware update. High End / Munich has passed by since a few weeks already.
